Raiders up 21-14 after a dominant second quarter

The Cowboys seems content to let the Raiders keep the ball, and the Raiders seem content to keep it.

The Raiders are frankly dominating the Cowboys, though they lead just 21-14 at halftime.

Rookie quarterback Matt McGloin was efficient and effective in the second quarter, helping keep the Cowboys off the field nearly the entire period. McGloin’s 11-of-15 passing for 146 yards, and has presided over an offense that has converted 7-of-9 third downs.

Rashad Jennings has a pair of touchdowns, obscuring the fact he’s averaging 2.1 yards per carry. But with McGloin playing so well and the Cowboys taking forever to get going, they have the edge at the break.

DeMarco Murray capped a touchdown drive just before halftime with his second score to keep it close, though it’s hard to see how.

  1. That soft defense cost Oakland the game last week, and it let the Cowboys right back in the game this week. I’m just a fat guy sitting on his couch, but that prevent defense makes no sense to me.

  2. McLovin looks better and better every game.

His poise in the pocket, the way he makes his reads, he can make all the throw, he looks like the real deal.

If this team doesn’t have to spend big money on a QB next year, look out.

  3. If it’s close in the 2nd half we’ll need the paramedics to be ready to give Romo the himlech because nobody choke quite like Romo in the 2nd half of nationally televised games.

  4. And now 21 all in the 3rd quarter.

We all see what’s coming next, typical Raiders collapse.

Hopefully Raiders fans are already stuffed and sleeping so they don’t have to witness yet another miserable defeat.

  5. They’ll blow it. The Raiders are always good for a laugh. I’m a Royals and Chiefs fan, and I know what it’s like to be laughed at, but one thing keeps me going: the fact that I can almost always laugh at the Raiders.

Well I hope you enjoyed the >90% passing for a passer rating of about a bajillion in the second half.

With this game, the Raiders extend their all-time record for non-winning seasons to 11 in a row!

Talk all you want about other teams beating the Raiders, but we all know the Chargers couldn’t get it done.

I wonder if the Raiders will go another decade without a winning season…
