Broncos get Moreno, Rodgers-Cromartie back at practice

It looks like the Chiefs are going to have to go without linebacker Justin Houston against the Broncos this weekend, but injury news is a bit better on the Denver side.

Running back Knowshon Moreno and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie each returned to practice on Thursday after missing Wednesday’s session with injuries suffered against the Patriots in Week 12. Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that Moreno “seemed to have a light workload” in his first day back on the field with a lower leg injury and that Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman are being prepared to carry the load in case Moreno can’t play.

Rodgers-Cromartie hurt his shoulder trying to break up a pass against the Patriots and was deemed “day-to-day” by the Broncos after the game. His return to practice bodes well of his chances of playing and the Broncos hope to have Champ Bailey back on the field at cornerback as well. Bailey’s been dealing with a foot injury all season and has not played in the last four weeks.

Tight end Julius Thomas was limited for the second straight day as he tries to return from a knee injury that forced him to miss the loss to the Patriots.
