Burfict questionable after injuring ankle in practice on Friday

Burfict

The Bengals look to be getting linebacker Rey Maualuga back after a three-game absence, due to a knee injury and a concussion. That’s very good for the Bengals, since they may not have linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

According to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Burfict is questionable for Sunday’s game at San Diego with an ankle injury. Burfict sprained the ankle in practice on Friday.

Maualuga officially is probable to return, which technically means it’s a virtual certainty to be available for normal duty.

Burfict, as Reedy points out, hasn’t missed a game in his two NFL seasons. Unselected last year after a pre-draft free-fall, Burfict has 118 tackles this year. He has had at least 10 tackles in 17 of the last 18 games.

Elsewhere on the Bengals, guard Kevin Zeitler is out with a foot injury. Linebacker Michael Boley (shoulder), safety Chris Crocker (hamstring), punter Kevin Huber (ankle), defensive tackle Devon Still (elbow), and receiver Brandon Tate (ankle) are probable.
