Zac Stacy cleared to play, five days after concussion

Stacy

When the Rams go to San Francisco on Sunday, they’ll have their leading running back. Most likely.

Rookie Zac Stacy has been listed as probable, five days after suffering a concussion against the Bears. It means he has received clearance to play.

But it also means that, if any concussion symptoms return, Stacy will be shut down. It rarely happens -- possibly because the player ordinarily has to tell someone he’s having headaches or dizziness or any other symptoms.

Stacy, a fifth-round pick from Vanderbilt, has 624 yards rushing this season, more than 400 more than the second-place guy on the list, undrafted rookie Benny Cunningham. Lost in the shuffle are second-year tailbacks Daryl Richardson and Isaiah Pead.

A second-round draft choice in 2012, Pead has seven carries for 21 yards on the season.
