The Chiefs placed rookie defensive back Sanders Commings on injured reserve Saturday.

In a corresponding roster move, the Chiefs signed rookie linebacker / defensive end Josh Martin from their practice squad.

The moves were disclosed in the NFL’s Saturday transactions.

A fifth-round pick from Georgia, Commings appeared in two games this season, recording one tackle. He had already been ruled out of Sunday’s game vs. Denver with a shoulder injury. Commings missed the first nine games of 2013 with a broken collarbone.

Martin (6-3, 245) had been on the Chiefs’ practice squad since Sept. 26. He was on the Chiefs’ roster for the first three games of 2013. He is an undrafted free agent from Columbia University.
