Andre Ellington inactive for Cardinals

An injury on the practice field on Thursday was costly for the Cardinals.

Andre Ellington, Arizona’s best running back, is inactive for today’s game at Philadelphia. Ellington hurt his knee at practice, and although full details of the injury have not been reported, it was apparently serious enough to keep him off the field today.

Although Rashard Mendenhall is the Cardinals’ starter, Ellington has been a much better playmaker. Ellington averages 6.0 yards a carry this season to Mendenhall’s 3.0, and Ellington has 50 more rushing yards on 57 fewer carries.

Now the Cardinals will need Mendenhall to step up in Philadelphia in a big game in the NFC playoff race.
