The Panthers are going to put their seven-game win streak on the line without their top running back, but they still have options.
DeAngelo Williams, who has been bothered by a quad strain, has been declared inactive for today’s game against the Buccaneers.
That creates a bigger role for Jonathan Stewart, though the Panthers will also have fullback Mike Tolbert on the field.
Tolbert was iffy this week because of a hamstring, but with him and Stewart and quarterback Cam Newton able to carry the ball, the Panthers still have a legitimate ground game.
Defensive end Charles Johnson is also out, missing his second straight game with a knee injury.
