You can be forgiven if you’re not paying attention to today’s matchup of the Jaguars and Browns in Cleveland, maybe the worst game of the week in the NFL. But if you’re not watching, you’re missing an outstanding performance from Browns receiver Josh Gordon.
Gordon caught five passes for 111 yards and a touchdown in the first 18 minutes of the game, continuing a stunning run over the last few weeks. Last week Gordon had 237 receiving yards against the Steelers, and in just over seven quarters stretching back to the second half of the Browns’ game against the Bengals, Gordon has 425 receiving yards.
Gordon is doing it with Brandon Weeden, maybe the worst quarterback in the NFL right now, throwing him passes. Imagine what he could do if he had a halfway decent quarterback passing to him.
Calvin Johnson is the best wide receiver in the NFL. But Gordon may be the second best.
