Two Adam Vinatieri field goals have given the Colts a 6-0 first-quarter edge over the Titans in Indianapolis.
The Colts’ first drive ended in an interception by Titans safety Bernard Pollard, but Tennessee could not convert the takeaway into points, and since then, Indianapolis has put together two scoring drives capped by Vinatieri field goals of 47 and 48 yards.
Vinatieri’s 47-yard field goal ended a 12-play, 59-yard drive taking a little more than six minutes and featuring one fourth-down conversion from the recently benched Trent Richardson, who gained one yard on 4th-and-1 to keep the drive alive.
Vinatieri’s 48-yarder was set up in part by a 23-yard completion from Andrew Luck to Darrius Heyward-Bey. The connection put the Colts into Titans’ territory, and they would drive further into range for their stalwart kicker, who gave Indianapolis a six-point lead.
