Bengals running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis entered Sunday’s game at San Diego with three lost fumbles in 994 regular-season touches.

He added a fourth lost fumble to that rather small tally in the fourth quarter against the Chargers.

With the Bengals holding a 17-7 lead, Green-Ellis fumbled after being hit by Chargers defensive back Marcus Gilchrist, with Chargers safety Eric Weddle recovering. Weddle’s 27-yard return set up the Chargers near midfield. San Diego would capitalize with a 48-yard field goal, cutting the Bengals’ margin to 17-10 with less than five minutes left.

However, the Bengals responded with the game-clinching drive, with Green-Ellis’ bruising run on 3rd-and-4 at the San Diego 8 earning a first down and securing victory for Cincinnati.
