Seahawks jump on top of Saints early

russellwilson AP

The big Monday night showdown in Seattle got off to a great start for the Seahawks.

The game started with the Saints receiving the opening kickoff and promptly going three-and-out, managing just three yards on their opening possession. The crowd noise in Seattle was intense, and so was the Seahawks’ defense.

After New Orleans punted, Seattle marched down the field on an 11-play, 61-yard drive that ended with a Steven Hauschka 26-yard field goal. Russell Wilson was excellent, completing three of his four passes for 40 yards and also running twice for 13 yards.

Although the Seahawks were kept out of the end zone, the game started just the way the home team wanted.

UPDATE 8:58 p.m. ET: And on the next possession, the Seahawks’ defense scored, with Cliff Avril knocking the ball out of Drew Brees’s hand and Michael Bennett grabbing the ball and running 22 yards to the end zone. It’s 10-0, Seattle.

Look how awesome Percy Harvin is doing with the Seahawks!

    2 receptions for 24 yards!

That’s so worth the $60 million they payed for him!

Now they won’t have enough to sign Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, & Earl Thomas!

But the Seahawks fans are still convinced they won the trade

  13. jshawaii22 says: Dec 2, 2013 9:14 PM

Percy Harbin? No, most Seattle fans understand that so far, the Vikes ‘won’ the trade. Unless you compare him to your ‘first round pick’ that you got. Who did you get? That’s what I thought.
    Give it another 2 years.

    Go Hawks!

But the Vikings are just tearing up the league, aren’t they?

Which QB bust will they draft next year?

  30. nyjetsfan08 says: Dec 2, 2013 9:46 PM

No matter who wins today, the Seattle will be very tough in the playoffs. They probably have the best chance in the Superbowl from the NFC side, as they can mend chilly, cold weather. Eagles could, too, but they might not even make the playoffs, let alone advance to the big dance.

If the Pats make it to the Superbowl this year, watch out. That is like a second home for them and they are used to winning there.

  33. oblongsphere says: Dec 2, 2013 9:50 PM

Russell Wilson is the only saving grace for Seattle on a team full of complete a-holes. Tate and Sherman are classless.

  34. donchacho says: Dec 2, 2013 10:02 PM

You guys going on about Adderall are clowns, the nfl and other leagues allow a 4 to 1 ratio for testosterone(most of us are 1:1) who cares about Adderall! All your favorites are juicing but you crucify this team for this? The hipocrisy of the league is a joke and so is everyone bringing up Adderall.

  35. jshawaii22 says: Dec 2, 2013 10:05 PM

Pot, Adderal, “Pete the Cheat”, Percy Harvin trade, it goes on and on and Russell Wilson will be a HOF in about 15+ years.

We just don’t care. Look at the scoreboard fools!

Congratulations on the big win this evening.

All I ask is that you give it your best next Sunday. I would hate to hear excuses.

Remember too, the Super Bowl is played in NY this year. You have yet to win it, not saying you won’t. You’ve got a good squad.

The crazy thing is that lately wild card teams keep winning the Super Bowl.

Still a few weeks to go before you get crowned… Patients is a virtue… Winning the West, or even NFC means bupkiss. I know, we won the NFC last year…

How can the Hawks be pouring it on after all the stroking they did about Rob Ryan’s defense ? He’s a bum just like his brother & will be fired by the Saints just as he was by the Cowboys when they tire of his bluster & lack of results in big games.

It all depends on who the vikings select with their picks. If recent history is any indication, Seattle may have gotten the better of the deal by a large margin.

Hawks are dominating in all aspects. Wilson showing he is the real deal. Hawks’ defense is intimidating the crap out of the Aints. I hate to say it, but….the Seahawks are the best team in the NFL right now. Scary what they will be like when Percy gets back.

Disappointing that next weeks’ game vs Niners means far less now. Hawks have the NFC wrapped up. Niners defense will keep them in the game next week, but the only chance my 9ers have is if Kap can match Wilson’s play.

  58. mustang6984 says: Dec 3, 2013 2:43 AM

LOL!!! Love all the accusations about PED use. I can see that the ‘Frisco children are out in force too.

We’ll see you little ones next week. Brees at least is a REAL QB. Something that ‘Frisco lacks in a sad and serious fashion. But then they also lack a head coach. We won’t need all of the 12th man to rip your guts out. You guys have such small ones to begin with.

And the jealousy over the 12th man! My! But then, again, what can be expected from those who are part of an anemic fan base?

Seahawks, 11-1 today, 12-1 by this time Sunday night! Deal with it!

I think it’s a little early to say who won or lost in the trade. Obviously the Seahawks are disappointed Percy’s been unavailable but hopefully he’ll be fully healthy at some point this season and future seasons. I think it might be about the bigger picture.
Xavier’s played pretty well for the vikings the last couple games, but it’s not like he’s tearing it up in Minnesota. That’s all we’re talking about at this point, Rhodes. And I’d take Percy over him any day.

We’ll have room for Wilson, Richard and Earl. Thanks for your concern, but I think Schneider can handle it.
