Jerry Jones: Ratliff should be helping the Cowboys

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones handled some medical housekeeping during his Tuesday appearance on KRLD by announcing that linebacker Sean Lee would play against the Bears on Monday.

He also had some thoughts about a formerly injured Cowboy who is now playing for the Bears.

Jeremiah Ratliff went by the name of Jay when he was a longtime member of the Cowboys and he clearly ruffled Jones’ feathers with the way he handled his departure from the team this year. He’s resisted talking about it in the past by referring to it as a legal matter related to Ratliff’s contention that he was more seriously injured than the Cowboys thought before signing with the Bears upon his release by Dallas.

Jones didn’t hold his tongue on Tuesday when asked about facing Ratliff this week. Jones admitted that he’s frustrated to see Ratliff in a Bears uniform when his own defensive line has been thinned out by injuries.

“I wish him the best on an individual basis. It’s just it would be very frustrating to see him get in there and play when most thought that he couldn’t play when he left us, as far as he was concerned and his approach to what he was going to be doing this year,” Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “And so with all of that in mind, I look at that and I have always thought a lot of him as a pro football player, and with the shape that we’re in on our defensive front, as far as I’m concerned, he needs to be over here helping the Dallas Cowboys.”

Ratliff said he’s approaching the date with the Cowboys as “just another game,” but it seems there will be a little extra urgency up in the owner’s box.
