Seahawks made Drew Brees look like just another guy

For the Seahawks last night, it wasn’t just what they did.

It was who they did it to.

The Seahawks made Saints quarterback Drew Brees look ordinary, or worse, in a 34-7 beating last night.

Brees was 23-of-38 passing for just 147 yards and a touchdown, an uncharacteristically bad night.

This is the most prolific guy ever,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said, via Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “For us to hold up, it took a long time to get over 100.”

The flat-tire outing broke a streak of 43 straight games with at least 200 passing yards, mostly because he couldn’t find anything open downfield. He had one completion longer than 14 yards, and averaged a meager 3.9 yards per pass attempt.

“The fact of the matter is we took one on the chin today,” Brees said. “As of right now, it’s looking like the road to the Super Bowl goes through here [Seattle].”

Of course, they’re going to have to get through a pair of games with the Panthers in the next three weeks to see if any of those anticipated playoff games will be in their own building, as they’re tied for the division lead at the moment.
