Jason Campbell to start for Browns vs. Patriots on Sunday

The Browns’ game of quarterback musical chairs continues, with Jason Campbell getting the start on Sunday against the Patriots.

Browns coach Rob Chudzinski confirmed today that Campbell will start after he practiced on Friday and showed no symptoms from the concussion he suffered on November 24 against the Steelers. Under NFL rules, the Browns would be required to sit Campbell if he has any recurrence of symptoms, so it’s still possible that he could be pulled. But at the moment, all indications are that Campbell will start.

“He looks sharp and hasn’t missed a beat,” Chudzinski said.

Brandon Weeden is recovering from a concussion of his own and will be inactive on Sunday. Caleb Hanie and Alex Tanney are the Browns’ other two backup quarterbacks.

As long as it’s not Weeden. Browns can keep it close. Probably won’t win though. Who knows, maybe Wade Phillips can get the Texans enough wins and then we’ll have the first crack at getting a QB.

Belichick just told his players and the media that each Patriots player and coach will need to do their job because Jason Campbell is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league and that Josh Gordon is second to no-one in getting open deep.

I don’t see how a guy whose thrown almost 20 more TDs than INTs, has a career 60% completion percentage, and a career qb rating over 80 has to sit behind Weeden and his back up until they both got hurt.

I don’t see any rhyme or reason to subject Campbell to our O-line girls once again.

Let the man heal properly and give “the kids” a chance to taste some real NFL turf.

It should be obvious our Browns aren’t going anywhere (again), why take a chance to further lessen our draft prospects?

    NE’s D-line should have quite a day.
