49ers beat Seahawks in NFC West grudge match

frankgore AP

For the last week, the entire NFL world has hailed the Seattle Seahawks as the best team in football. Today the San Francisco 49ers reminded everyone that there’s still a whole lot of football to play.

In a tough, physical battle between these two NFC West rivals, the 49ers won 19-17 and made a big statement that they’re still Super Bowl contenders, even if the Seahawks remain atop the division.

San Francisco running back Frank Gore had a big day that was topped with a 51-yard run late in the fourth quarter, which helped set up the game-winning field goal in the final minute. That field goal made Phil Dawson a perfect 4-for-4 on the day.

The 49ers’ defense did a good job of keeping Marshawn Lynch in check, and although Russell Wilson was efficient and effective with his passing, the 49ers were able to contain him for the most part, and he didn’t make many big plays. If the 49ers’ defense can hold Seattle’s offense to 17 points, they’ll take that every time.

The Seahawks are still the favorites to win the division and earn home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs, but the 49ers, who will likely be an NFC wild card team, have at least made the case that they’re a team to be reckoned with in the postseason.

Still, the good news for the Seahawks is that if these teams meet a third time, it will be in Seattle.

Now can Seahawk fans please keep it down?

  2. thepftpoet says: Dec 8, 2013 7:33 PM

The Seahawks didn’t look very focused today…

The Adderol must have not kicked in…

Good game you girly-boy 9ers. It was a hard-fought game. Hope to see you again soon!

  4. judsonjr says: Dec 8, 2013 7:34 PM

Looked like 2 teams destined to lose their first playoff game.

That was a good game, nice win for the 49ers. Your team will probably win the playoffs. I am sure the Seahawks will host you at some point in it.

  7. ketch20too says: Dec 8, 2013 7:34 PM

Great game. 9ers made the plays at the end and the Hawk D didn’t. Any Hawk fans who honestly believed they were going into SF and blow them out were delusional. Nice game SF. Road to SB still goes through Seattle at this point.

  8. thepftpoet says: Dec 8, 2013 7:35 PM

    49ers > Seahawka

    …it’s not even close

  9. chawk12thman says: Dec 8, 2013 7:35 PM

Nice game SF. See you in the playoffs.

  10. tommymomoney says: Dec 8, 2013 7:35 PM

We’ll see what happens at the Clink where the Whiners aren’t getting every call. Oh wait, we already know what will happen.

  11. atwatercrushesokoye says: Dec 8, 2013 7:36 PM

Hmmm the Seahawks scored 17 and put up less than 270 yards but all the Seahawks fans were saying this is the best O ever assembled led by the best QB to ever step on a field…you’d think they’d have done better?

  12. fr0sted21 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:36 PM

In before Seahawk fans making maniacal excuses.

  13. 64post says: Dec 8, 2013 7:36 PM

5 straight loses in sf isn’t exactly ownership…just saying.

  14. nfl4days says: Dec 8, 2013 7:36 PM

Can we all stop acting like Seattle won the Superbowl last week now? Great win by the 49ers and I’m really glad to see frank gore still has something left in the tank. The man deserves a ring and maybe yellow jacket when its all said and done.

  15. hawkstradamus says: Dec 8, 2013 7:36 PM

The ghost of frank gore came back to haunt us. Kaep still sucks.

  16. webehighrollin says: Dec 8, 2013 7:36 PM

We own the She-Hawks at home baby!!! Who’s got it better than us!?!?!?

  17. adderal says: Dec 8, 2013 7:36 PM

Big win for SF, meaningless loss for SEA.
Glad to see frank break the run, for so long he was the only weapon we had and won’t see him much longer. Also great game by Boldin against a very good secondary. Don’t have a lot of faith in a win up there later but at least this shows they can beat this team

  18. dayus49 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:36 PM

Hell of a game Seattle. Glad we pulled it out though.

  19. ridgebak says: Dec 8, 2013 7:37 PM

Come on pedhawk fans, let’s hear your excuses. Oh and paying someone to fly that banner, don’t you feel stupid now?

  20. phelbin says: Dec 8, 2013 7:37 PM

Cue the Seahawk fans saying this game doesn’t prove anything because the Niners won by only 2 points. For crying out loud, the Seahawks needed overtime and a late field goal to beat Houston and Tampa Bay!

    GO NINERS!!

  21. justamoguy says: Dec 8, 2013 7:37 PM

I think I will just keep a watch on this forum to see what all the Seahawk fans, that have been soooooo obnoxious, have to say now.

  22. ripster65 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:37 PM

Props Hawks! Every bit the great game many expected. Nice to know that we may have a shot at beating you in the playoffs, granted that would have to happen in Seattle (ugh!). Great game!

  23. mrlaloosh says: Dec 8, 2013 7:38 PM

Some people forgot their PED’S in Seattle. I hate the Whiners but it’s nice to see Earl Thomas misplay a tackle on Frank Gore to set up the winning FG. Hey Earl, how does that taste. Defensive POY? I think not.
All that talk from the Seahawks is just that. TALK!
    Bwa-Haa-HaaaaaaHa!
One and done in the playoffs 12th women!

  24. myhawks1976 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:38 PM

    2009…loss
    2010….loss
    2011…..loss
    2012…..loss
2013, yet another loss in SF.
Where’s the HAWK trolls that say they own SF?

  26. redandgoldhitman52 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:38 PM

hey seahawks fans, dont forget who the reigning nfc champs are. you better respect the 49ers.

  27. swaggyy says: Dec 8, 2013 7:38 PM

Well fought game. Can’t win them all. Penalties is the only reason SF won. Seattle is still the superior team. Go Hawks!

  28. florida87niner says: Dec 8, 2013 7:39 PM

What a game… go niners. Cue the excuses from the 12th man

  29. fumblenuts says: Dec 8, 2013 7:39 PM

Congrats, see you at the Clink, maybe.

  30. thepftpoet says: Dec 8, 2013 7:39 PM

    It’s officially been finalized:

The Seahawks fans are banished back to their parents basement

  31. jimthebuilder27 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:39 PM

    Kaepernick finally beats the Seahawks.

One more accomplishment for him, and one less sticking point for critics.

  32. SeenThisB4 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:39 PM

….on any given Sunday. Actually, I was hoping both would lose.

  33. swaggyy says: Dec 8, 2013 7:39 PM

Lol Kaepernick is awful. San Francisco won their little super bowl today. Congrats.

  34. sweetnlow44 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:39 PM

Too bad they’ll play in Seattle if they meet again this year where the 49ers don’t stand a chance.

  35. ibrandon360 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:39 PM

If we win 2 of the final 3 we’re the number 1 seed NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS. Congrats San Francisco on a good win, but you and Kaepernick don’t scare me one bit when your playing up in Seattle. #TrueFan #GoHawks

  36. kylexitron says: Dec 8, 2013 7:39 PM

Lol@ the idiots. Seattle is 11-2 and still has the best record in the NFL. Hawks are going to the Superbowl.

  37. rockinchox says: Dec 8, 2013 7:40 PM

    good win SF.
Not the end of the world for the Seahawks. Sometimes a loss is needed to refocus. Not a bad time in my opinion.

  38. phillysports1 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:40 PM

Seahawks suck . All the hype last week when they beat NO at HOME . Everyone was saying they were the best team in the NFL right ? But they can’t beat niners on the road . And this is suppose to be the best team in the NFL ? I’m not buying it sorry. Not to take anything away from SF.

  39. pr0phat69 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:40 PM

    5 teams in the NFC……. that’s who

  40. jayniner says: Dec 8, 2013 7:41 PM

    Awesome game!

That’s why they call him “Frank the Tank”

  41. swaggyy says: Dec 8, 2013 7:41 PM

Okay you want some excuses? Well the refs continuously bailed out SF with flags and every time Seattle did something good they brought it back and killed drives. Valid excuse. Just a great record at 11-2. How’s 9-4 and still being in 2nd?

  42. dirk504 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:41 PM

Niners all day! I wonder if that chump Sherman congratulated Harbaugh after their loss??? Hard work beat PEDs today.

  43. pgilbert2013 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:42 PM

Great game Seahawks.., we are the class the the NFC.

We had the ball 5 minutes longer than you. I’m a bit remiss we did not get more touchdowns, but I will take the win.

The only NA, NA NA NA thing I want to say is… I loved seeing pouty Pete on the sidelines… He’s a bit too Pop Warmer zeal lest dad coach when he wins… Rubs it in a bit… So loved his ugly loser face.

All that said… See you again in Seattle.

  44. 40zntallcanz says: Dec 8, 2013 7:42 PM

  51. allidoiswin55 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:42 PM

Good hard fraught game . Never really seemed to be clicking on offense .. You pulled this one out if we meet again I thinki it will have a decisively different outcome . Clutch win by sf they solidified a playoff spot to me . No one will win in Seattle but sf atleast knows they can .

Congrats niners fans I hopefully we have a healthy Percy for that one today our backup cbs showed some cracks . We’ll be full strength playoffs and will compete better . Sf deserved this one off to another championship week as Seattle says …

  52. goldrush36 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:43 PM

Here comes the excuses or the “this game didn’t matter anyway” to no known end

  53. thereisfootballwestofjersey says: Dec 8, 2013 7:43 PM

The only thing Seattle has proven this year is
A: They are incapable of beating the Niners (that’s 5 straight losses at SF)
B: When challenged, they’re average away from home

Kaepernick was AWFUL and the Niners still won.

With 2 ridiculously small minded personal fouls on SF, Seattle still couldn’t produce any offense.

Sorry Seatrolls. SF still has it better than you. Your elite team status has been DENIED!!!

  54. seahawksfan4ever says: Dec 8, 2013 7:44 PM

Congratulations on the win. It was a good game with two good teams. Both offenses played well and both defenses good too.

  55. Great Caesar's Ghost says: Dec 8, 2013 7:44 PM

Seattle peaked too early. They’ll lose at home to a six seed.

  56. shemberry says: Dec 8, 2013 7:44 PM

Hawks fan here. Niners stepped up as most intelligent people expected. Hawks played with little discipline and Niners made 2 huge plays on final drive. Hopefully the Hawks use this game to bring themselves back to earth and finish strong.

  57. usdcoyotesfan says: Dec 8, 2013 7:45 PM

I’m surprised that game-ending interception wasn’t called a touchdown catch.

Just a reminder, the last three Super Bowl winners were 10-6, 9-7, 10-6. And only 2 number 1 seeds have won the Super Bowl since 2000. So I wouldn’t buy your plane tickets for NYC just yet, Seahawk fans. There’s a lot of football left!

  59. bigred0021 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:45 PM

  60. thepftpoet says: Dec 8, 2013 7:46 PM

As you can see, Seahawk fans don’t have very exciting lives

  61. thelionsrgreat says: Dec 8, 2013 7:46 PM

49ers are the far better team. That so called uhm “team” in the state of Washington are classless, proven cheaters, their coach ruined an entire college program, than just walked away. If that were my home team I would be embarrassed. Now I know all you lovers of these clowns will defend them and that makes you worse. Demand class from your team. Winning by the rules is awesome, cheating makes it all tainted. Your the Barry Bonds of football.

  62. kuya206 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:46 PM

No excuses. Good game 49ers. It was a hard fought battle and have to hand it to Gore for making that game changing play. I hope we see you again in the playoffs.

    Go Hawks.

  63. russellwilsonatemyhomework says: Dec 8, 2013 7:47 PM

Good game. If Kaepernick plays that poorly in the playoffs the Niners aren’t going anywhere. Lucky for them they still have Frank Gore.

  64. donttrip22 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:47 PM

they should of called this game the cry bowl man both coaches cried about everything wow and jim crybaugh cried the whole game in the refs ear you could see the wet spot pathetic display by a NFL coach san fransico whiners

  65. raiderrob21 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:47 PM

Sloppy game, lost track after about the 14th penalty. SF needed more than Seahawks and it showed. SF still needs a few more wins before they continue with this playoff talk.

  66. redandgoldhitman52 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:47 PM

lynch couldn’t run against our def in the 2nd half. lynch and russell both got shutdown in the 2nd half. 49ers are still the superbowl favorites. our weapons are back and clicking.

  67. earneverything says: Dec 8, 2013 7:47 PM

Looks like the Seahawks fans are a lot more classy than the 49er fans – all I’ve seen on here is props on the win and no excuses for the loss

  68. beastmode5150 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:48 PM

Poor coaching at the end by Seattle.

  70. hawksfan3737 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:48 PM

I give SF credit for winning at their house. But the fact is, someone is gonna have to come up to Seattle and beat us and that’s not happening.

  71. adderal says: Dec 8, 2013 7:49 PM

All of u complaining about unfair penaltys, those weren’t def. holding?
You are the second most penalized team in league. Give respect where it’s do children. Maybe all that “whining” Harbaugh did about your secondary was actually just the truth.

  72. stampnhawk says: Dec 8, 2013 7:49 PM

Two big plays, and the Seahawks unable to finish the redzone with a TD with 6 minutes to go was the difference.

    Good game by SF.

Blessing in disguise for Seattle to knock them down a half peg, this game likely the most pressure they’re to face until the playoffs, with NYG on the road and two home games left.

Hopefully this refocuses Seattle, and gets them working on getting the offense clicking for more then 1 or 2 quarters (which is all they’ve needed for the most part this year), and gets them to finish in redzone with TD’s.

  73. baltimorons says: Dec 8, 2013 7:49 PM

Happy to see Seattle lose. Even if it means harbaugh wins. No one is worse than Pete Carroll. No one.

Totally agree. All week they were talking how they were going to beat the Niner’s. Now after the pedhawks lose, the obnoxious fans are already saying it doesn’t matter. The teams and fans hate each other so much, and now suddenly it doesn’t matter? Too funny.

  94. allidoiswin55 says: Dec 8, 2013 7:59 PM

Have respect niners act live you’ve been there before or like this wasn’t your Super Bowl and you’ll never get there again .. It’s been a long time since you had bragging rights against Seattle . You win be happy but u also barely won so keep perspective .

A win is a win can’t compare margin of victories over other opponents that’s whack . Seattle looked flat not gunna act like it mattered but they did have a short week.. Sf just made the last plays to win ..good game and have class I think we know Seattle is the better team . They were off and down a cop players and u showed an you still barely beat them.. Literally wished Seattle took some caffeine pulls they looked lathargic ..good we’ll deserved and mandatory win by those niners .. We welcome you back in the clink anytime …

What was up with all the flags tho couldn’t get any routine plays or game play for hitherto teams but mainly seemed to affect my hawks .. What a poorly officiate gees self up the flow of the game for everyone .. I truly think this was a bigger factor than noise..

Seahawks have the best road record in the nfl and will easily beat Nyg and rams

  95. braceyourselffor12 says: Dec 8, 2013 8:00 PM

Who’s got it better than us?!!!

  96. mulehead70 says: Dec 8, 2013 8:01 PM

That was a great game! Hats off to the Niners for pulling it off. It was a close game, just as I had called it.

As to the idiots claiming to “own” Seattle, keep in mind two things – for one, you only won by 2 points (and as I’ve posted here before, a win’s a win) and second, the Hawks kept the Niners in check until the Frank Gore run. You can thank Frank Gore for pulling off the play. Kaep should thank his lucky stars he has Gore, because no way in hell was Kaep gonna pull that off.

Hats off to the Niners for pulling off the win, and to the ones posting here talking trash – quit acting like YOU won the Super Bowl. People may confuse you for a Seahawks fan, and we know YOU don’t want that reputation…LOL.

  97. seahawkgoat says: Dec 8, 2013 8:01 PM

I’ve never seen a fan base beat their chest so loudly for winning a a regular season game that gives them a leg up for the 6th seed in the playoffs. All you ever hear is that the 9ers have history of championships and wins, yet this is how you act when you win one? By 2 points? On a last second field goal?

It was a helluva game. Any true fan of either team saw exactly what they expected today, and SF came out ahead at the end. Congratulations to SF, the REIGNING NFC WEST champs. When Seattle wins the NFC WEST this year, hopefully some of you delusional whiners will recognize as well.

And anyone being honest with themselves has to give John Harblow the Whine Crown over Pete The Cheat, although it’s a well fought battle.

  98. gosfvr says: Dec 8, 2013 8:03 PM

I’ll be civil. Heck of a game both D’s came to play.
Niners showed the Seattle D can be thrown on.
The one long run by Gore broke their back (of course)
The rest 9f the NFL should be scared. The niners look like they are heating up.

Playoffs will be awesome. Niners – Seahawks for the third time this season possibly? Winner surely wins the SB.

  99. alongmylines says: Dec 8, 2013 8:08 PM

Well played Seahawks, exciting game to watch. Really glad my Niners made it out on top, so there is a legitimate chance of meeting again in the playoffs.
Still, this win hasn’t proven anything beyond the fact that home field still matters a lot when both teams are about even.
And you’re right to say that if Kap shows up like this in Seattle, it’s not going to be fun to watch. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy he is the Niners QB and I think he can be all of the things people made him out to be after last season, but some things just trip him up again and again. I know he knows, just as anyobody else on the Niners, so I am confident!
One thing I am tired of, though, is the playcalling on offense: A lot of the time it is just entirely predictable and doesn’t show any confidence in any of the receivers, let alone Kap. I understand that against the Hawks, but it’s an issue.

Rant over, I know they will get a lot better from here. Well played again, Seattle.

    =============================

LOL, I am NOT a S.F. fan, but I will say, a good portion of Seattle’s fans are by far the least classy in the NFL after a win.

Not all, but there are a lot.

That is why there is such a backlash after this loss. All the people (like myself) that did not have a feeling about Seattle one way or another till having to read post after post about how Seattle is better than everyone, are reacting.

My team is in the AFC and after seeing all the posts from Seattle fans, the Seahawks have have eclipse the Patriots as my 4th least favorite team.

  103. hazelmn says: Dec 8, 2013 8:11 PM

The Seahawks could really use a game-changing offensive player. You know, someone who could be a great slot receiver, take a screen pass for 30 yards, and be a great kick and/or punt returner. Putting him on this field would make the Seahawks unstoppable. Seriously.

Oh, and it would be great if the player could be healthy and not count in a big way toward the salary cap.

Dont get me wrong, this is not a bash of the Seahawks, who have an amazing team, but they could have been flagged SO much more. If anything, SF won this game in SPITE of the horrible no-calls. LOL at the Niner fans talking smack over a two point win at home. The Niners HAD to have this to have a shot at the postseason. The Seahawks, coming off a short week and emotional win over the Saints, didn’t have as much to play for and still almost snuffed out the Niners’ playoff hopes at the Stick. Talk all the trash you want Niner fans, but Seattle is still sitting very pretty.

See you again in the playoffs!

  120. ratedr2o says: Dec 8, 2013 8:31 PM

Seahawk fans upset that we’re celebrating a victory against (arguably) the toughest team in the NFL. Yet all year long they posted “42-13″ as if they won the Super Bowl. lol

It was a good game from both teams. 49ers won, Seahawks lost. End of story.

It’s gonna be tough to go through the Hawks in Seattle, no doubt. You gotta love your chances, but nobody has won anything yet. Stay humble Seattle.

    ——————————————-

No, what happened is…Seahawks FINALLY got called for the dirty play they exhibit every single time they play. Pass interference is their middle name and there were finally some refs that called it instead of ignoring it.

There’s a reason that you #2 in the league for penalties…all of your players are very obviously “pumped up” on something and it ain’t adrenaline!!

That game was insane. Seahawks are undeniable, and yes I held my breath when Wilson threw that bomb at the end, his receivers have came up huge for him these past two years. This matchup is gonna come down to home field advantage every time, or the next couple years. I hope we ont have to go through Seattle, but it sure looks like we are gonna have to. We can win that game, but we have to bring our A+ game. But I am sure glad I don’t have to read all the Seahawks bragger s, most of em are taking the high road, right now, wich is surprising. But they would’ve been thrashing us if they won, and that game could’ve gone either way. I also am glad I didn’t have to see Pete the cheat running around like a little girl, I have seen waaaay too much of that lately. And I am very interested to see how mike florio will turn this win into something negative, wich he will.

When Wilson throws an interception, he handles it like a man. When Kappy throws an interception, he cusses and rants all the way to the sidelines. That will prove itself to be the most important factor that separates these two teams in the end. Wilson’s maturity and leadership mark him as one of the true greats of the game. Kappy just acts like an immature idiot most of the time. He will be long forgotten before Wilson even reaches his peak. Go Hawks!!!

Stop talking about the Hawks lucky wins… The only were missing nearly 4 starting offensive linemen.. U hear me, that’s far from lucky. Missing an all pro and I pro howl all pro type player and another linemen playing out of position. They found ways to win. Even if the competition was having a bad season they were still starters on another team and mind you the other teams strength was how deep their dl was.. For the dumb that means they had their strength against our weakness .. Of course we’d struggle..

We won tho so calm the noise. also did you forget we lost our stating lb with a broken bone in his foot, then magically the Niners could find a couple running lanes…

Every team has injuries, but bragging or boasting without acknowledging them makes you look just as moronic as people who don’t understand why the pack sucks without Rodgers….
Certain players are key, not saying the weakness of losing Kj won’t last hit at least who ever is playing that position will have the opportunity to get reps and be prepared ..

Good win but u beat a team kissing 6 key players.. The seahawks have won without them and will win going forward, Just didn’t have enough play makers to get it done. Niners still had to make plays but doesn’t hurt that the key plays made were where Seattle had just taken a hit.

The way the Seahawks played defense today was an absolute disgrace to the word football.

I can’t remember a football in my life where nearly after every play the commentators were talking about the pass interference by Seattle, and if it was called or not.

No wonder the stop teams from scoring. Almost every single damn play they were holding the 49ers jerseys, their shoulder pad “V”, you name it.

It was disgusting. And I hope the NFL took notice of it today. The NFL officials HAVE to be briefed before the officiate Seattles games to watch out for the PI and holds of their defenders.

Anyone can be a good corner if your allowed to hold and grab. What happened today when the officials didn’t allow it??

And all the whining about the officiating needs to stop, it’s Carroll’s game plan to have the db’s hold 100% of the time, and trust the officials are not willing to throw the flag every play until they accept it and keep them in their pocket…SEA’s db’s had a handful of jersey ever time they were flagged…just cuz you are not used to getting flagged, doesn’t me they are not legit.

good win by the niners. not a great win by any means, but a good grind out win.

I gotta say that it was a well deserved kick in the teeth for the hawks. dont believe the media seattle, you still have a ways to go. u guys talk more trash than any other team in recent memory.

niners you boys got the team to win it all, but seriously you need to throw it across the middle against this team. its open all day.

Seattle can talk all they want. I don’t recall them winning anything……ever

Glad to see some fans from both teams take the high road and talk only about the hard fought game and the mutual respect for two very good teams. This game has been the game all season long that I figured would be the hardest game.
Both teams fought hard, played well and also not so well.
While I love the rivalry between our teams it also saddens me that so many stoop to name calling, player bashing, lying and being all around jack a’s. (fans from both teams).
Of course I think we have the better team. The argument could be made that we made it more of a game in their house than they did in our house.
The only thing worse than the 49er/Seahawk fans acting like a.hats is the trolls from other teams stopping and talking smack in a debate they have no place.
Good game to both of our teams. Can’t wait to see you in January!!

  167. realfootballfan says: Dec 8, 2013 11:51 PM

For Seahawk fans thinking if they get homefield advantage, this thing is wrapped up, this game is a coin flip. It played out the same way as the game in Seattle, only went deeper into the 4th whereas the Seahawks took control of that tight game early in the quarter when they were at home. I’m thinking in a playoff game, I’d prepare for this kind of outcome instead of the breakaway scenario.

  168. rap49er says: Dec 8, 2013 11:51 PM

Why didn’t Pete just let theNiners score rather than get the ball back with 19 seconds. Airman said the same thing.

  169. frankyvito says: Dec 8, 2013 11:53 PM

I’m a 9er fan, and we need to pipe down. Winning by 2 at home when you’re a big boy in the conference. Considering the D, Kap & Roman had put together a perfect game until that interception. If we had stepped on their throat then like we should’ve, I may have felt better about the win. That’s what big boys do.

  170. goldrush36 says: Dec 9, 2013 12:00 AM

Wait a minute SF won their Superbowl today? This coming from the team preaching 42-13 for 10 months because that was absolutely all they had to reflect on for the season? Excuse me for a second….. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  171. rn1997 says: Dec 9, 2013 12:24 AM

Great game! Had me on the edge of my seat! Thank goodness our D is fantastic otherwise we would have been toast………we still have A LOT of work to do offensively…….as a LOYAL (and realistic) Niner fan I’m just not sure that’s going to happen in the next few weeks. But then again, we got to the SB with AS at the helm most of the year & he was the king of field goals.

Side note – I can’t stand Pete Carrol, since his USC days. How many packs of gum do you think he goes through in one game? I’ve NEVER seen someone chomp SO HARD! Really like RW though……..he is a VERY likable guy.

Eastcoastniner. So still, nobody has answered me. What Seahawks are on a PED? I’ll help you, nobody has been suspended for a PED this year. As for Carroll “cheating” he didn’t know about the Reggie bush stuff, EVERYONE has said as much. Let me ask you a question. Let’s say you are the USC coach, and you make 3 million a year right? Ok, you get a phone call from the richest owner in the NFL and he says, “hey, we want to interview you to be the coach, abc executive Vice President of the Seahawks, and we will double how much money you currently make”. What do YOU do? Say “nah, I want to stay here and have a less prestigious job, and make less money. Kick rocks…

Bruce Irvin’s was suspended for PEDs this year and returned in game 5 of this season. Is it hard to keep track of your players on PEDs?

  180. pop562 says: Dec 9, 2013 2:57 AM

The game could have gone either way but the 49ers stalled in the red zone and they could have been up 14 points in the 1st quarter…credit to the hawks defense for that. It’s kind of hard to expect Kaep to beat the hawks elite secondary when he’s still trying to improve. Kaep still needs to work on his reads and touch passes, I was hoping for some underneath quick slants or passes in the middle. This game was what most expected…physical, chippy and a very defensive game. I wasn’t surprised about the flags flying because last week against the Rams…flags were flying to control the players.

The X factor was definitely Gore on that big 51 yard run and staying in bounds to run the clock out. The 49ers needed this game and they wanted it more because if the hawks clinched the NFC West in Candlestick before they move…this will definitely hurt the 49ers pride. It was a good game on both sides and it came down to who made the last play. Still 3 more games to play and the 49ers need to win it all for the 5th or 6th seed and depending on where the Panthers finish as well.

As much as the fans talk smach to each other, its part of the game and it shows we are very passionate about our team. Good to see some humility from the hawks fans and also the 49ers faithful. In the past I rooted for the Hawks to beat the patriots in their superbowl and I did the same for when the Cardinals played against the steelers superbowl. The Best Division this year is definitely the NFC West…represent!!! now we just need a team from the NFC West to win a Superbowl…

“Have respect niners act live you’ve been there before or like this wasn’t your Super Bowl and you’ll never get there again ..

Seahawks have the best road record in the nfl and will easily beat Nyg and rams”

Give credit to the 49ers’ Defense, DC, Gore and Boldin for this win. Roman had to pull this out of his rear and extended his time, maybe until post season.

KraperNoob still didn’t prove in this game he was better than Wilson or the QB he replaced when he didn’t earn the job, being handed the job to a SB caliber team since the middle of the last season. He’s still a Noob.

Seattle on the hand proved is beatable as long as the game isn’t in Seattle and the 9ers defense provided a blue print to containing Wilson in the cage (pocket).”

I find it hilarious you 49ers fans think you’re even remotely close to being as good as the Hawks. Congrats on your 2 point “blowout” win yesterday. Even with questionable penalties and being down a couple key players, you threw everything you had at us and could only eek out a W in the last 30 seconds of the game, on YOUR home turf not to mention. I also find it hilarious that you complain about our defense’s style of physical play (holding or PI as you Whiners call it) yet Boldin and Crabtree push off on every pass play thrown their way. I know not winning the division this year is a hard concept for some of you to grasp, BUT maybe if you’re lucky and complain to the refs a little harder, they’ll help you slide in as a six seed. Sadly that won’t be enough to get you to the Clink in January, but that’s probably a good thing seeing as how you’d lose, BADLY, anyways.

Hmm… ok I’ll take this one.
Seahawks and 49ers split the two games this season.
Oh but Seattle is 11-2 and 49ers are 9-4.
I guess that means that Seattle is better than the 49ers.
Took 49ers 30+ years to come up with their first SB win.
    The History

    Matchups: 29

Series Record: Seahawks lead series 15-14

49ers Home Record vs. Seahawks: 49ers lead series 7-6

49ers Away Record vs. Seahawks: Seahawks lead series 9-7

First Meeting: 9/26/76, 49ers win 37-21, at Sea.

Last Meeting: 9/15/13, Seahawks win 29-3, at Sea.

    Current Streak: Lost 2

    Longest 49ers Win Streak: 4 (12/12/10 – 10/18/12)

    Longest Seahawks Win Streak: 6 (10/12/03 – 12/11/05)

    Most 49ers Points: 40 (12/12/10): 49ers win 40-21, at SF

Most Seahawks Points: 42 – 2 times, (Last 12/23/12): Seahawks win 42-13, at Sea.

    49ers Shutouts: None

Seahawks Shutouts: 2 (Last 11/12/07), Seahawks win 24-0, at Sea.

Looks like historically Seattle is at least as good if not better than the 49ers.

But lets all get back to this year because that is what counts.

split games, Seattle has scored more points and has the better record.

As a Hawks fan this kinda stings and is disrespectful with out a counter commercial.
