Adrian Peterson suffers apparent injury, carted off field

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was attended to by the club’s medical personnel in Sunday’s game at Baltimore after apparently sustaining an injury on a third-down play in the second quarter.

According to the Fox telecast, Peterson may have an ankle injury.

Peterson was seen walking on the Vikings’ sideline and moving his right leg as if to test it. Then, he got onto a motorized cart, ostensibly to be taken inside for further tests.

The Ravens lead the Vikings 7-0 in snowy conditions in Baltimore.

UPDATE 2:14 p.m. EST: Per Fox’s Jennifer Hale, Peterson was to have X-rays, and his right foot had a sandal on it, not a cleat. However, Hale reported that Peterson is able to walk on his own.

  1. This is why you don’t give a RB $100 million. Even AD. Sucks though, he’s so fun to watch.

  2. He’s afraid to play in the snow. He may be in the locker room just to warm up a bit. Plus, keeping him off of the field increases the Vikings chances for a higher draft pick.

  3. “The MVP last season should have been RGIII. Cheaterson was on the juice.”

I’ll be telling my grandchildren about watching AP drag 5 defenders into the end zone. RGIII will be the answer to a Jeopardy question.

  4. It sucks when you lose the best player on your team. When that happens, you can fall very quickly from the penthouse to the gutter.

It must at least be some consolation for Viking fans to know that they don’t have far to fall. They were in last place with Adrian Peterson, and they’ll be in last place without him.

    Hopefully he’ll be OK.

    Signed,
    A Packer fan.

  5. On the bright side…. this injury will give adrian peterson more time to play with his kids.

Oh… he ignores his children’s existence?!?

Well… I guess it gives him more time to do whatever guys who ignore the existence of their children do.

  6. This is why football was never meant to be played in these kind of conditions. Back in the day the season ended in October and they canceled games if it rained.

I’m not kidding- look it up.

Peterson’s 7 carries for 15 yards proves he’s not HOF worthy.

Right, and what does say about the beloved Aaron Rodgers —- he didn’t even bother to play today.

Tells you everything you need to know about Green Bay & their ilk.

  12. Neat, you see what that logical dude did there…? He replaced a few letters of Peterson with the word ‘cheat’. That means Adrian must take steroids or smoke marijuana, right? That right there should be enough to suspend the guy. Like all the ‘Cheathawks’ and other teams/players that actually do well. Got to be cheating to be good these days…Derek Cheater, Cheat Carrol, Peyton Cheating, Ncheatsagain Suh, Pablo Cheatsemall, Tom Bradycheats…(dammit, that didn’t work, Tom must be clean…)

Get well Adrian – however you do it – because it IS bad for the league without you.

looks like us Vikings fans are getting a dose of karma for mocking Rodgers injury…

You’re not a Vikings fan, you just switched two letters in your name of one that is. That’s just sad.

  15. Well I don’t like seeing any teams best player go down. It adds to the excitement of the game when teams are healthy.

If it is a broken bone… maybe Viking fans will then understand that it isn’t a rehab or toughness issue.

It’s this is how fast the body regenerates bone to heal itself.

  16. Great now AP will never be able to play for a winner.

Thanks a lot Minnesota for shackling a great running back to a losing team his entire career.

Are you just sad cause it was Saint who hurt him?

Can your coach hook him up with some painkillers?
I heard he likes to dole them out freely…
