Chiefs jump out to 10-0 lead on Redskins

Kansas City Chiefs v Washington Redskins

during an NFL game at FedExField on December 8, 2013 in Landover, Maryland.

Patrick McDermott

The Chiefs aren’t playing in the most extreme conditions in Washington, but it is snowing enough to make things a mess.

So faced with a fourth down call early, the Chiefs decided to roll the dice, and the gamble worked on a sloppy track.

After a Jamaal Charles conversion, he finished with a 2-yard touchdown run to stake the Chiefs to a 10-0 lead. Alex Smith has hit a few passes, but defense and a 60-yard punt return by Dexter McCluster have done most of the damage.

The Redskins look a bit out of sorts, and with the turmoil they’re dealing with off the field, getting in an early hole, in front of half a stadium of fans, against a better team is about the worst possible start.
