Aaron Rodgers will see doctor on Wednesday

0b2d85680fa284c6a51cb82c517f885b AP

The Packers got the win they needed to stay in the playoff hunt on Sunday, but they still don’t know if they’ll have they’ll have Aaron Rodgers back in the lineup.

Coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Rodgers still hasn’t been medically cleared to return from the broken left collarbone that has kept him out for the last five games. That’s where things were last week as well, so there won’t be any update to his status until he visits with doctors.

That will come on Wednesday morning after Rodgers is evaluated. Rodgers was able to get on the practice field last week, McCarthy said he felt better Friday than he did on Wednesday, so a green light on the medical side is likely all that needs to happen for Rodgers to start in Week 15. Matt Flynn was 24-of-32 for 258 yards, a touchdown and an interception in Sunday’s win.

McCarthy also said that running back Eddie Lacy has a sprained ankle and that it is too early to say whether he’ll be able to play next weekend. Lacy was able to finish the game after getting hurt just before halftime.

The Packers don’t really need to rush him back do they? The team as a whole has been holding their own in his absence haven’t they? 1-4-1 isn’t really that bad is it?

  2. grabgrabgrab says: Dec 9, 2013 4:25 PM

Packers need them both (Rogers and Lacy) to return to have a chance to win out this season (wouldn’t hurt to get Cobb and some others back as well).

They received all the help they needed yesterday to keep pace in the North race.

BTW, that interception was the craziest thing ever! Wow.

  3. deltaoracle says: Dec 9, 2013 4:29 PM

Getting Rodgers back would probably make the Packers the NFC North favorites. Flynn has performed about as well as a Minnesota former first round draft choice. But Rodgers makes everyone else on the team better, which is what a great first rounder is supposed to do.

  5. Carl Gerbschmidt says: Dec 9, 2013 4:32 PM

Obviously, our task at hand is much easier with Aaron at the helm, but if yesterday has taught us anything, it’s that Matt is more than capable of getting us yet another NFC North division title.

  6. tvjules says: Dec 9, 2013 4:37 PM

And hopefully, Matt Flynn’s butt will see the bench on Sunday.

I can see how you’d think so, considering your Vikings went 1-7 in their first 8 game stretch this year. I mean, if the Vikings were as injured as the Pack, 1-4-1 would be a dream come true. It’s better than you guys do when you’re healthy.

The Packers are a far better team, though, and can compete with anybody when healthy. That’s why we are paying close attention to our injury news, because we are still relevant.

  8. tundratommy says: Dec 9, 2013 4:38 PM

It sure is nice to have a running back that’s tough enough to fight through injuries and finish the game.

  9. theptfpoet says: Dec 9, 2013 4:39 PM

As a Vikings fan, I wish Peterson missed more games so I atleast would have some sort of excuse for my team only winning 3 games.

  10. rikker12 says: Dec 9, 2013 4:39 PM

The Lions will lose out. The Bears will lose out. The Packers will win out… Oh, the Vikings will wine and cry and complain about everything… Then there fans will get mad and post something about other teams fans and there team. Just so they seem relevant for a minute..

Whoever wins this division will not go far. I hate SF & Seattle, I would want any other team to represent the NFC than those two teams.

Green Bay is a division rival and I often rejoice in their defeats but I really hope Rodgers is cleared to play. The game is better with him in it.
If I had one pick for one player to build a team around he’d be the guy. No one does it better.

  14. johngaltwho says: Dec 9, 2013 4:41 PM

As a Packer fan – I dont think the Packers have a chance of beating the Cowboys – in Dallas – without Rodgers at the helm. We were lucky to eek out a win over Atlanta, a struggling team, playing out of its element, dropping pass after pass… I’ll be rooting for em, but I just dont see a way to a win without Rodgers. With him, anything is possible (far from guaranteed), without him, I think we’re looking at another Thanksgiving day style debacle.

Funny Jimbo – you obviously don’t follow Packer media outlets closely because if you did, the decision is all in the doctors hands. Rodgers has been practicing for a few weeks. If you follow the media as well, the first question McCarthy gets every week is whether Rodgers will play. Is that Rodger’s fault? The team has won only one game in his absence. Any team with playoff aspirations would be asking the same questions.

Yeah, I’d say that’s the definition of a warrior. There isn’t a player in the NFL who is 100% healthy at this point, but somehow the NFL hasn’t shut down the season yet. It did suck yesterday when AP got knocked out of the game.

But he has started every game this year.

Which Packer RB has started every game this year? There aren’t any.

Lacy got knocked out of the game against Washington after his 1st carry and then missed the next game too…

If you’re going to attempt to talk smack – at least try and know what you’re talking about.

AP’s been playing with injuries for most of the season that most likely would have put Lacy on the bench.

AP has 1221 rushing yards this season.

If AP doesn’t play another down this year, will Lacy catch him?

Your opinionated self-serving flag-waving figures can be manipulated in any direction the sender wants them to go. I could do the same if it weren’t so boring and unimaginative. Are you sure you want this site? This is a pro football site. The Packers still reign over Minnesota, currently and for the foreseeable future, in the NFL, which is a pro football league. Isn’t THAT what is most important on this site? Isn’t the fact the Packers have your number really why you feel compelled to brag about anything…..anything at all…..to give yourself any level of self-esteem? By the way, you left out your tall buildings, your opera houses, your horse-jumping arenas, and the fact the sun is brighter and the moon is rounder in Minnesota. Give it up. Nobody is impressed.

Obviously, our task at hand is much easier with Aaron at the helm, but if yesterday has taught us anything, it’s that Matt is more than capable of getting us yet another NFC North division title.

    duece5 says:

Gerby….stay off the moonshine dude! Your schedule is much tougher now, and you BARELY pulled one out, AT HOME, favored by 7 (which was whacked, but heck ya I took the points).

Nope, your season died when you TIED the Vikes.

That extra “1″ at the end of your record is just a subtle reminder of how bad you guys are this year.

The difference is, the astute Vikings fans RECOGNIZE how we need to clean house, and how true Viking football should be played.

We have owned this division since we joined, and hold an 18-11 whoopass against the packers as afar as division championships.

    Who’s your daddy Gerbie??

Toes, your right but give Wisconsin too much credit on the football side as the Vikings have been in the division with the packers since our inception, and we have WON MORE THAN 50% more division titles.

    Vikes: 18
    Packers: 11

Hey, they have beer in Wisconsin, I guess they have something.

The fact is; no two states are more closely aligned than Wisconsin and Minnesota than perhaps Iowa and Nebraska, Illinois and Indiana, or even North and South Dakota. An inbred propensity to display arrogant superiority complexes is the only thing you have over us. If our women are fat, so are yours. That’s it.

And as a reminder…..this is a football site, and the Vikings, and their fans, as usual , are in our rear view mirror, again. Facts do hurt.

Oh…..you forgot to mention you also have the Worlds Most Boring Mall. Yippee.

If the Pack get A-Rod back on Sunday, they’re winning out & bringing home another Lombardi Trophy.

Once again the attempts at anonymous “bullying” and repetitive insults is all the ammunition certain Viking fans have to fight with. Ever. That’s it. These people are living in the anonymous self-serving equivalent of the Stone Age. They epitomize the worst of what is wrong with this country. Pea-brained idiots. You’ll know them by name by their responses to me.

I have an idea, let’s have a spelling bee. Winner takes all

  80. toes110 says: Dec 9, 2013 10:09 PM

wrong again. Its obvious the vikings blow this year, as do the packers. Repetitive insults you say? Isn’t it true that some of your counterparts continuously use terms such as Hapless or Tasteless? so ” These people are living in the anonymous self-serving equivalent of the Stone Age. The epitomize the worst of what is wrong with this country. Pea-brained idiots. You’ll know them by name by their responses to me” I guess that would also apply to Filthy, or Carl, or Toyko.. … Outlaws comeback was funny BTW…

Purple Pride! Vikes have 18 division titles. How many does Greene Bay have. We’re going to have our third stadium while you still play in the same one. SKOAL

I never use hapless OR tasteless, as that would not do justice to Viking ineptitude.

It’s “hapless AND tasteless”. Please pay attention.

Chicago’s killing the cowgirls and all you can talk about are the Vikings? The Packers have a chance to be relevant you clown shoes. They won’t win the division and all you’ll be left with is rejection and embarrassment. The Packers may have more championships, but we are better at life than you. And you know this.

  84. rastaraji says: Dec 9, 2013 11:48 PM

Hey, if Viking fans want to hang their hats on the fact u have more division titles then go ahead and brag it up. In Packer land we all know its Championships that REALLY matter and we ALL know how that shakes out. LOL!!!

We know this? No. You think this.

Need I say more? Look at this guy. It must be something in the drinking water. You will not find a larger collective group of people with in-grained superiority complexes than you will in Minnesota. It never ends. They are truly and wholly full of themselves. Wow.
