Visanthe Shiancoe’s stay in Tennessee a short one

Visanthe Shiancoe AP

Visanthe Shiancoe is one-and-done as a member of the Titans.

According to John Glennon of the Tennesseean, the Titans released the veteran tight end, and brought back offensive lineman Kevin Matthews.

Shiancoe was a one-week fill-in (catching two passes) for the injured Delanie Walker, who was out with a concussion.

With Walker expected to return and Craig Stevens expected to do more, the Titans didn’t need him any longer. But by coming in quickly, he’s also showing other teams with short-term needs that he’s available, and able to play immediately.

Ee what other teams could you be referring to (wink, wink)? We’re looking at you Bill Belicheck.

I just followed his career at a distance, not being a Viking fan or anything, but he always seemed like a serviceable Tight End. I was actually shocked that Baltimore let him go, I know he is on the wrong side of 30 but I would figure he would still have another couple years as a decent veteran option for a team to have. I wonder if the Pats would give him a look after losing Gronk?

He’s pure locker room presence at this point.
