Bengals rule out Terence Newman

In a move that was expected, the Bengals have officlally declared cornerback Terence Newman (knee) out of Sunday night’s game at Pittsburgh.

The 35-year-old Newman has not practiced all week. According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Newman has a sprained MCL, an injury that was assumed to keep him out at least for this week.

The only other Bengals player not to practice on Friday was outside linebacker James Harrison (illness). He is probable for Sunday.

Outside linebacker Vontaze Burfict (thigh), defensive end Wallace Gilberry (knee), running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis (illness), safety George Iloka (concussion), wideout Marvin Jones (shoulder) and offensive guard Kevin Zeitler (foot) are also probable for the Pittsburgh game after fully practicing Friday.

This should be a close one.

That Said… it doesn’t matter since Cincinnati already DESTROYED the steelers on MNF…. and… the steelers are not making the playoffs (again).

Remember Last Year: Cincinnati KNOCKED pittsburgh OUT of playoff contention with a Bengals win in pittsburgh in Week 15

With Newman out, it’s a good thing the Bengals have Dre Kirkpatrick to step in.

Another benefit of the Carson Palmer trade with the hapless, irrelevant Raiders.

    Thanks Al!

Yeah… it nice to have Kirkpatrick… but… in this modern pass happy/quarterback friendly NFL…. great defenses need QUALITY cornerback depth and QUALITY receiving depth.

Bumping up Kirkpatrick a spot exposes the Bengals low depth chart corners to the steelers #2-3 wide receivers.

pittsburgh has respectablle depth at receiving corps:
    antonio brown – 1241 yards
    emmanuel sanders – 669 yards
    jerricho cotchery – 566 yards

That Said… Bengals sacked benny twice and applied good pressure in the win on Monday Night Football (w/ Geno Atkins/Leon Hall).

Steeler fan here. I hope you all beat us Sunday (AND we lose the reat of our games), the Lions beat the Ravens, AND you go on to win the North this year.

I HATE the Ratbirds, and would LOVE to see them miss the playoffs this year.

    Good luck!

With Ref assistance, the NFL can direct any game to end the way they want. The game has turned into the WWF of the 1980’s, nothing is real.
