Dockett fined $7,875 for hand stomp

On the same day that Steelers center Cody Wallace conducted an accidental on-field prostate exam, Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett jeopardized the ability of Rams guard Chris Williams to fulfill the complete job duties of a urologist.

Specifically, Dockett stomped on Williams’ hand following the conclusion of a play.  For the infraction, Dockett has been fined $7,875.

Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh may be confused about that.  In 2011, he was suspended two games for stomping on the arm of Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith.

I love how everything is a “stomp” now.
While Dockett clearly stepped on his hand he certainly didn’t stomp on it. Stomping would imply using much more force than he did. Likewise Suh kicked Evan Dietrich-Smith arm. There was absolutely no stomping involved. The word stomp only serves to make the incidents sound worse than they actually were which in turn demonizes the players in question. I guess that’s the point though.

Uh-huh…And Brandon Marshall got hit with $15,000 for wearing orange shoes. Who decides these fines, anyway?

That’s it? Ohhhhhhh that’ll teach him. That was intentional and he could have broken his hand.

This stuff happens every weekend. Some of it is on camera, some is not.

Lots of junk grabbing lately, which is a bit of a concern.

The league has to pay for its lawsuit somehow. Everything’s a fine.

I was relieved that he wore the right shoes.

$10k fine for Cam Newton for a Uniform violation something to do with helmet clips. Why is this more than somebody purposely stomping on your hand? NFL needs to get some perspective with their discipline.

I want to upvote those Brandon Marshall and Cam Newton comments a bunch of times. When they knock you for double the going rate for a cleated shoe to the hand for (albeit repeated) an offense of the “dress code”, the NFL doesn’t look like it has it’s priorities quite worked out properly.

    This fine is horrible

The NFL talks so passionately about player safety

A guy attempts to smash a guys hand on purpose and he gets a slap on the wrist….$7 grand and change.

Other players attempt to tackle a guy with the ball in play trying desperately to abide by the rules in a split second get the hammer with 10 times the fine?!

The NFL fining committee is full of shi/.

Lawyers and people with no integrity are ruining the game.

How are uniform fines bigger than stomping on someone’s hand. Heck, how are uniform fines even fines? The NFL is messed up.

I love the amount $7875! Where do they come up with that price? ! It’s like a bid on price is right! Suh bids $7876! Hahaha
