Jaguars give up on Jeremy Mincey, again

So much for making the most of a second chance.

The Jaguars released defensive end Jeremy Mincey Friday, a transaction that in and of itself wouldn’t attract much notice.

But Mincey was effectively on double-secret probation after missing a meeting and being left home from a trip to Houston, so it’s easy to wonder whether he had another distraction crop up.

Mincey said the previous punishment was a wake-up call, and after missing two games, he was back in the lineup last week against the Texans.

Mincey was one of the last big contracts signed by the previous administration, getting a four-year, $20 million deal in 2012, with $9 million guaranteed.

Sucks to see him go, but I like that the front office isn’t pulling punches or making empty threats.

Bears tried signing this guy as a free agent last year, I could def see them going for him again as they make their playoff run

The Jaguars need a pass rusher, too. That’s why they cut Mincey… Now he can focus in on his full time job as recording studio owner.

That contract was such an obvious mistake at the time it was given. Gene Smith wouldn’t be hired to manage a corner store.

Gene Smith came in last again in his fantasy league this year.

Minc got a wake up call. Then he got a sit down call. Finally he got a get out call.
