Jets put Stephen Hill on injured reserve

New York Jets Hill catches a touchdown pass in the second quarter against the Buffalo Bills during their NFL football game in East Rutherford Reuters

The disappointing second season of Jets wide receiver Stephen Hill has come to a premature end.

The Jets announced they placed last year’s second-round pick on injured reserve because of knee problems.

Hill had just 24 catches for 342 yards this season, which is actually an improvement over his rookie year. Granted, he’s not in the best situation to flash receiving talent, but he’s also been part of the problem.

Hill hasn’t justified the move up to take him with the 43rd overall pick, and has fallen well short of the size-speed-alma mater comparisons to Calvin Johnson the Jets made when they took him.

Of course, it’s not like the Jets passed on anyone useful with that pick, so it’s not as if they have regrets.

Lol I love how suddenly Ashlon was a no-doubt prospect that everyone missed. Go and google his name and read the draft reports about his weight, effort, etc.

Not even a Jets fan either.

Jets haven’t drafted one decent offensive player in the last 6 years…

    Vernon Gholston thinks he’s irrelevant.

Alshon also had incredible receiving yards at South Carolina with a very mediocre quarterback. So, there were many sides to his pre-draft reports.

That said, drafting is always a crapshoot. I’m just glad the Bears got Alshon in this situation. And always thankful for an opportunity to LOL at the Jets.

you can’t underestimate the benefit of Brandon Marshall taking Alshon under his wing and teaching him the position and how to be a pro in the league. Alshon spent time with him in the off season and Marshall gave him tips from diet to football to training.

I’ve never witnessed a 6’4″ WR that plays as small as he does.

I’m a Jets fan & the funny part is if he signs with New England next year, the second he scores his 1st touchdown the move will be dubbed by the media as…GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn’t Rex say he thought that Hill would be the best 2nd year receiver in the NFL by the end of the year?
