The Jaguars will be without their leading receiver on Sunday against Buffalo.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, wideout Cecil Shorts will not play because of a groin injury.
The 25-year-old Shorts has started all 13 games for the Jaguars this season, catching 66 passes for 777 yards and three touchdowns. He went through a limited practice on Friday and was questionable on the injury report.
With Shorts out, Mike Brown and Ace Sanders look to be the Jaguars’ top wideouts. The Bills are allowing the sixth-fewest passing yards per game, but they have allowed 25 TD passes.
In other Jaguars injury news, Schefter reported that running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) will go through a workout this morning to gauge whether he’s able to play. Jones-Drew did not practice all week because of the injury, and he listed as doubtful on the injury report.
If Jones-Drew can’t play, the Jaguars could turn to Jordan Todman. The Bills are surrendering 124.8 rushing yards per game, which ranks toward the bottom of the league.
The Jaguars (4-9) have won three consecutive games.
