DeSean Jackson: “A lot of emotions” involved in sideline spat

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson put up 195 receiving yards on Sunday against the Vikings on Sunday, but his fine day was marred by the Eagles’ loss and a sideline spat after Nick Foles threw an interception in the third quarter.

Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com reports that Jackson and wide receivers coach Bob Bicknell were spotted shouting at one another on the sideline before being separated by other players. Coach Chip Kelly eventually walked over to speak to Jackson, who was the intended target on a ball intercepted by Shaun Prater. After the game, Jackson didn’t offer any insight into what went on with Bicknell.

“It was just a point in the game where you’re dealing with a lot of emotions involved, and it’s one of those things that happened,” Jackson said. “I cannot really discuss what happened. That’s what happened, it is what it is. At the end of the day, we lost the game. We felt very comfortable and confident that we should be able to come out here and win, we just didn’t play good enough. We didn’t play good enough to win, and at the end of the day that’s all that matters.”

Kelly said that he went over to “squash it” and that he’d get to the bottom of what went on with Jackson and Bicknell. Such arguments happen all the time in the league, especially at moments when nothing is working for your team. That was the case for the Eagles for much of Sunday and making sure that doesn’t happen again will be the best way to make sure sideline arguments go away.

    Cool story bro.

    Don’t worry Desean.

That’s what happens when you play the historic Vikings team, who dominates most games.

They will get the best of your emotions by their spectacular play.

Desean Jackson is emotional like a woman.

  8. eagleswin says: Dec 15, 2013 9:54 PM

Desean Jackson could’ve made a play on the ball and should’ve broken up the interception. Little to no effort on that play.

  9. doe22us says: Dec 15, 2013 9:55 PM

Emotion or not he ran my fantasy team to the finals, keep on getting fired up Jackson, one more performance from you along with Charles and LeSean…

Im so sick of how hotels in Minny poison the opposing teams meals. This has to be investigated with the NFL security division. Clearly this is what occured here today. Chip Kelly gave them smoothies that were provided by the hotel. And they were poisoned.

A lot of funny stuff here…
“…especially at moments when nothing is working for your team.”
When you put up 30 points and your QB goes for 400+ yards, there’s a lot thats working for your team. It was the defense that didn’t work.

    backdapack4ever
    DeSean,
you lost to a bad team and you ran like crap…

If you’re referencing the whole team, you’re correct. However, this comment seems to be directed solely at DeSean, in which case you need your eyes checked because he “ran” for 195 receiving yards.

    how bout dem Cowboys

I’m guessing you didn’t see the end of the game. The Cowboys lost.

Overall, not a lot of high IQs here at PFT.

Why does a Dallas loss feel as good as a Eagles win? December…. It’s cold. LOL

  14. chrisk61 says: Dec 15, 2013 10:13 PM

bicknell probably bitched jackson out for quitting on the play. jackson is a veteran, highly paid at that, and should have known to try to break up the int.

bicknell is right. jackson is an explosive player but at the end of the day he is not a winner.

and this is coming from an eagles 20 + year season ticket holder.

The vikes are crappy because we have nothing behind the line on d and we don’t have a qb,

  17. greenbloodking says: Dec 15, 2013 10:30 PM

Seriously… People need to stop the Desean hate. Yes he blew up on the side line and it was caught on tape. But plenty of players do when things go awry. And Desean never stopped playing or lost his cool on the field. If anything he stepped his game up after that getting a touchdown, plenty of yards, took a huge hit to gain a first down, and a crucial YAC play to try to keep the Eagles in it. And when asked about it he answered appropriately and didn’t feed into any media baiting him to flame up the situation. He handled everything today the RIGHT WAY. Get off his back and show that man some respect when he does the right thing. #Eagles

  18. eaglesnd18 says: Dec 15, 2013 10:32 PM

Yes, our defense was very crappy today especially carmichael and chung. But our offense was easily guardable today because chip would not hand the ball off to the leader rusher in the league. That’s what had me going crazy!

  19. davikes says: Dec 15, 2013 10:40 PM

I was wondering who Shaun Prater was. Turns out the Eagles waived him in October. Ouch.

  20. sdsmooth says: Dec 15, 2013 10:47 PM

Really Philly? The Vikings? You lost to the VIKINGS?!?!?!

  21. tarkentin says: Dec 15, 2013 10:51 PM

I know DeSean is a drama queen but I would love to have him on the Vikes. We need talent like that to be better than .500. Sure DeSean is emotional and immature but what he does on the field makes up for it. I would be willing to look past any indiscretions if he could help my team win. I mean I loved Randy Moss and he assaulted a police officer. It was worth it because we got to the playoffs.

  22. Youknowimright says: Dec 15, 2013 10:56 PM

Much like philadelphia fans , desean is fun to be around when they are winning but he will turn on you immediately when things go wrong. A perfect match. They deserve each other.

I saw this coming after last week and I’m glad it happened. A bad loss like this refocuses your team and we needed a loss to make sure everyone is giving 100% in order to make the playoffs. Being on a 5 game win streak, I would not have been comfortable looking at the end of the regular season and playoffs (if we get there) had we maintained that streak. I feel good going from here, especially knowing we get to feast on that Dallas D in week 17.

  25. trytobnimble says: Dec 15, 2013 11:08 PM

10 receptions for 195 yards and a TD. Yeah. He sucks. Get rid of him.

  26. harrycanyon says: Dec 15, 2013 11:14 PM

Where is Dunta when you need him. Somone needs to take this little punks head off again.

  27. 2ruefan says: Dec 15, 2013 11:34 PM

All you schmoes acting credulous that the eagles lost to the vikings clearly don’t watch much football. Apparently you are the kind of fans who just look at records (and nothing else) and just reason “oh they have a worse record, so of course they will lose..”

  28. 2ruefan says: Dec 15, 2013 11:35 PM

    “INcredulous”… damn autocorrect…

  29. posey93 says: Dec 16, 2013 12:00 AM

Everybody keeps talking about he’s emotional this emotional that, even though we loss he still dropped 10 catches, 195 yards and touchdown I’ll take that emotional player any day.

  30. provguard says: Dec 16, 2013 12:20 AM

DeSean can’t control his emotions…Every 18 year old in this country should have to go through basic training in the Army. Try that crybaby stuff on you drill sergeant?

What else can’t you control DeSean??? Are you safe in public???

    A punk, a total PUNK.

  32. espfdps says: Dec 16, 2013 1:25 AM

Scroll up and read greenbloodkings’s comment. Perfectly said. Also, saying Desean will turn his back on you is assanine. If anything he only got better after that play. Don’t comment if you didn’t watch the game. For those of you calling him a hood rat you truly are ignorant. He was molded to play football his entire life and breathes football. Inspired by the passing of his father to play, never having any off the field issues mad always wanting to win. If Tom Brady yells and rants on the sideline he’s a hood rat too? Or do we call him trailer trash?

We should hope that Kelly and Roseman are not clueless enablers like this halfwit that does NOTHING but make excuses for this SELFISH AND SELF ABSORBED player’s actions time and time again. This player continues to show it’s all about HIM and not the TEAM.

As long as he gets his number called on the 9 route and he can get away with his BS….all is right with this clown. But once you call him out on his crap, he has a tantrum and everyone else ON THE TEAM has answer questions for his SELFISH actions.

Got news for you “Jaccpot”. That little conference you had with the owner in the locker room after the game? You better pay attention to the significance of the conversation actually taking place, rather than the topic of conversation.

Don’t think he doesn’t know that your deal has ABSOLUTELY NO guaranteed money left owed to you going forward after this season.

Don’t think he’s not paying attention to the holdouts of Revis and the like when they wanted – and eventually GOT- new deals when their guaranteed money ran out. However, it wasn’t with the club that drafted them.

And don’t think that he doesn’t know your trade value is at an ALL TIME HIGH right now, and your game is only going to drop from this point, due to concussion issues, physical size and YOUR OWN UNWILLINGNESS to do other things in the offense.

Just keep making excuses for this punk. He WILL cost this team down the stretch. Dearly.

    Mark it down.

    Revolting.

Seriously… People need to stop the Desean hate. Yes he blew up on the side line and it was caught on tape. But plenty of players do when things go awry.

    Everyone’s doing it, MOM!

And Desean never stopped playing or lost his cool on the field. If anything he stepped his game up after that getting a touchdown, plenty of yards, took a huge hit to gain a first down, and a crucial YAC play to try to keep the Eagles in it.

So if he does something “good” after he does something “bad, all is forgiven!

And when asked about it he answered appropriately and didn’t feed into any media baiting him to flame up the situation.

HE ACCEPTED ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSIBILITY, which is the status quo for this punk from the get go. Never ONCE have you never heard him say ” I was wrong”. Not ONCE. Defer and deflect. Should go into friggin politics.

He handled everything today the RIGHT WAY. Get off his back and show that man some respect when he does the right thing. #Eagles

So handling it the right way, is showing bellligerence and ignorance, along with blatant indifference ( i.e…”I don’t give a F..”) coupled with the fact that he was totally justified in admonishing a TEAMMATE, when HE was in the wrong YET AGAIN.

These kind of enablers are the key reason this kid has this type of behavior to begin with.

You are upset and thats OK. Just wake up and realize your team, again, with all the bravado, is not going to win a Lombardi.

  40. eagleseagleseagles says: Dec 16, 2013 9:38 AM

    Few points here.
    1) the eagles held opponents to 21 points or less during that streak. did you really think that would hold up?
    2) yeah desean could’ve made a play on that ball to knock it down/tackle the player immediately but he also caught 10 balls for 195 yds and a TD. 1 mistake won’t take away the fact that he had a good game and now is in the TOP 5 in receiving.
    3) At the end of the day as an Eagles fan, I can say that we sure weren’t projected to have a winning record this year/ be in the playoff hunt so I’ll take an 8-6 record over a 7-7 or a losing record any day.

BUT PLEASE GO BACK TO SLEEPING ON THE EAGLES. I THINK THEY LIKE THAT.

  41. myeaglescantwin says: Dec 16, 2013 11:32 AM

the coach probably told him that was a piss poor effort .

you can’t just watch a player intercept the ball without making any effort to get in there and break up the play.

Look at the veteran player Avant. He went out of his way to interfere with the DB who easily would have caught Foles pass earlier in the game.

DeSean is a punk. Ship him out for a #1 draft pick.

bad attitude speedsters are a $1 a dozen.
