Kirk Cousins fumbles away his first drive, Falcons up early

cousinsrg3 AP

Robert Griffin III is far from the only problem in Washington.

With Griffin out and Kirk Cousins in, the same problems remain: The offense is turning the ball over, and the defense can’t stop anyone.

Today in Atlanta, Cousins fumbled when he was blitzed on a third down on Washington’s first drive, and the Falcons recovered. Cousins did make a couple of nice throws early, but he and Washington’s offensive line are struggling with the Falcons’ pass rush.

The Falcons’ offense, meanwhile, isn’t struggling at all. Both of Atlanta’s offensive drive have resulted in touchdowns, and it’s 14-0 in the first quarter.

UPDATE 1:34 p.m. ET: On Washington’s second drive, Cousins threw a touchdown pass to Fred Davis.

Sorry, not KC’s fault. Its the turnstile offensive line.

There goes that 1st round pick Shannahan…

Looked like the offensive line just jumped out of the way on that one — there were 5 Falcons with a hand on Cousins immediately at the end of his 5-step drop.

You don’t say that the Washington team is terrible in all phases and replacing Griffin with Cousins hasn’t fixed all the problems, but on the contrary exposed how big of a joke Shanahan is? You don’t say?

I am telling you the Rams are going to be in the position to trade the Bridgewater or Clowney pick for three more 1st rounders. You heard it here first folks.

If they do they will be stacked for a decade.

Cousins is looking like a complete beast. Redskins would be up big if they could hold onto the ball.

I enjoy the skins drama immensely, but I’m glad for their fans that cousins is playing well. RGMe’s seat is getting warm.

As bad as they are, the offense looks better under Cousins than it did under RG3. Most drives seem to go somewhere, there aren’t successive 3-and-outs, and it seems like a team effort rather than just one guy.

    But both teams are terrible.
