Kirk Cousins fumbles away his first drive, Falcons up early

Robert Griffin III is far from the only problem in Washington.

With Griffin out and Kirk Cousins in, the same problems remain: The offense is turning the ball over, and the defense can’t stop anyone.

Today in Atlanta, Cousins fumbled when he was blitzed on a third down on Washington’s first drive, and the Falcons recovered. Cousins did make a couple of nice throws early, but he and Washington’s offensive line are struggling with the Falcons’ pass rush.

The Falcons’ offense, meanwhile, isn’t struggling at all. Both of Atlanta’s offensive drive have resulted in touchdowns, and it’s 14-0 in the first quarter.

UPDATE 1:34 p.m. ET: On Washington’s second drive, Cousins threw a touchdown pass to Fred Davis.
