Shanahan exits press conference when asked about press leaks

AP

On Wednesday, Washington coach Mike Shanahan conducted a lengthy and wide-ranging press conference, asking all questions with uncanny candor.  On Sunday, Shanahan took a different approach.

Shanahan exited his post-game press conference in the middle of a question regarding media leaks, according to Jay Busbee of Yahoo! Sports.  The official video of the press conference is choppy at times, and it doesn’t contain the question that prompted Shanahan to exit.Via Rich Tandler of CSN Washington, it’s the first time Shanahan has cut a press conference short during his four years with the Redskins.

On Wednesday, Shanahan insisted that he talks to no one in the media off the record, a contention that many in the media deem to be outlandish, not credible, and ultimately not true.

  1. It’s a media created story period. I’ve said that from that morning that release about his office being cleaned out. The media as usual along with Goodell trying to ruin a good locker room in Washington. Let us do our thing and win a Superbowl! We have the talent, stop holding us back! #LeavetheRedskinsalone

  2. “Yes, I am on the phone daily with Adam Schefter – but I never do any talking. Next question!!”

  3. He and Mike Krwshewski (sp?) of Duke are the most prominent rodents in sports. In Shanahan’s case, I think he just loves being the center of attention.

It doesn’t look like you have the talent to win a game, let alone a playoff game, these days. Sorry, but pathetic losers like the Deadskins don’t get to even mouth the words “Super Bowl.” That’s for real football teams with real leadership and real fans.

  5. McNabb was right about him. Jake Plumber alluded to something like this. Broncos paid him to not come back and stop talking about him. Raiders, that’s well documented.

Can we finally not see this man anymore in the NFL? Take his inexperienced shouldn’t be an OC son with him. Nepotism, try and tell me that it isn’t who you know that gets you somewhere faster.

  6. I’d like to know if anyone asked Shanahan if he purposely threw the game by going for a 2-point conversion instead of doing what ANY veteran coach would do, under the same circumstances. Shanahan might as well have had Rex Grossman come into the game cold and had him pass it through his legs!

He had the Falcons on the ropes and decided to bite the ear off of the referee!

  7. I have zero emotional ties to The situation in Washington, However, the media has really turned this into a shyt show. They are picking on Shanahan, and trying to create a story that doesn’t exist! I have no idea whT their motivation is, but it’s pathetic and sickening. They need to be ethical and accountable but the media has their own agenda. It’s obvious & transparent. Shame on you!

It would be perfectly easy for any of those media-types who are calling Shanahan a liar to just to PROVE it by telling us that he leaked information the THEM! No specifics required, just say “Mike leaked info to me off the record” – even ONCE would nail him. That would go a long way to providing some actual FACTS to this huge rumor-fest!

Tell you one big thing I’ve learned about the DC media tho (or is it ALL sports media?); they love to gossip more than a bunch of old bitties, and repeat it so much they they start to believe rumors are FACTS (which few of them seem to wanna bust their humps to dig up).

  9. I’m confused. Redskins have zero to play for. They have a chance to WIN for a change and Shanahan has the balls to go for the win. I applaud him for that. Now the fact he’s a sniveling rat faced has been is a different matter entirely. So hate him for what he is, not the man he tried (and failed to be) today

  10. All media hype and Shanahan would not throw any game. The 2 point conversion, with our record, made sense. Burns is gone as soon as the final seconds tick of the last game….worst special teams I’ve seen. Hail!

  11. Snyder gets taken to the cleaners by somebody just unscrupulous as him.

D.C. is full of rats and lawyers, delicate egos and manufactured melodrama; its the perfect place for this big-budget disgrace.

  12. Let’s see…what do Donavan McNabb, Albert Haynesworth, James Andrews, Robert Griffith III and Daniel Snyder all have in common? They all have had an unfortunate association with Mike Shanahan.

  13. Ratface Shenanihan must have watched that Seinfeld episode where George Costanza tried to get himself fired by the Yankees so he could join the Mets. He was dragging the WS trophy around the parking lot and saying Steinbrenner was a bum through a megaphone.

He’s doing the same thing but he doesn’t have anything to drag behind the car.

    How about ‘Mick’ Shenanigans?

  16. When Dan Snyder decides to fire Shanahan, I hope he hires JJ Watt, to deliver the news.

Mike Shanahan, I’m here on behalf of Daniel Snyder to say, “SHUT YOU DOWN”!!!
