Tavon Austin won’t play on Sunday

Austin

Rams receiver Tavon Austin is day-to-day with an ankle injury. On this day, he won’t play.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Austin will not be in the lineup later today, when the Rams play the Saints.

Austin didn’t practice on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. He is officially listed as questionable, which means there’s a 50-percent chance he’ll play.

Go ahead and push that to zero.

While that will make it harder for the Rams to beat the Saints, we’ve seen St. Louis surprise their old NFC West rivals before. In 2011, a then-winless Rams team knocked off the Saints in the Superdome, an upset that ultimately forced the Saints to go on the road in the divisional round of the playoffs.

If the Rams can beat the Saints on Sunday and if the Panthers hold serve at home against the Jets, next week’s Saints-Panthers game gives the winner control over the NFC South entering Week 17.
