Bruce Arians: Carson Palmer’s ankle sprain is “low grade”

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians had a bunch of injuries to update on Monday, including the ankle sprain suffered by quarterback Carson Palmer.

After the game, Arians said Palmer had a high ankle sprain but he termed it, via Darren Urban of the team’s website, a “low grade” sprain when he met with the media. Palmer was injured early in the game on a low hit by Kamerion Wimbley that was flagged for roughing the passer, but didn’t miss a snap after getting taped up on the sideline.

Arians also confirmed that wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald still has to pass through the league’s concussion protocol before he’s cleared to play against the Seahawks. Fitzgerald’s father tweeted Monday that his son passed his concussion tests, but Arians said the only tests Fitzgerald has passed were the ones allowing him to head home after the game on Sunday.

Running back Andre Ellington is expected to be fine after missing overtime because of a thigh injury, but safety Reshad Johnson has a high ankle sprain that puts his status for Week 16 in doubt. With Tyrann Mathieu out, the Cardinals would be thin at safety if he can’t play.

  1. Didn’t like seeing that from Wimbley. Definitely a low hit & way after he had released the ball. I know he’s trying to make a play but you aren’t gonna get your playing time back by getting a 15 yard penalty.

  2. Tough matchup for how this week Seattles defense despite missing 3 starters is still the best in the league right now . Factor in home crowd in Seattle and a #1 overall seed on the line for Seattle and this game will most likely be lopsided .

Arians has done a hell of a job but hope ends Sunday ..

  3. Clearly people are butt hurt their their lousy franchises weren’t a good situation for a good player. I guess all it took for him was a quality team, coach, GM………

  4. Boy you guys sure talk allot of crap about a good solid QB hell he got over 4000 yds last year with the raiders. Probably the only positive on the team. Cards have 9 wins so far not bad for a new gm, coach, system and being the tuffest division. I guess according to most of you that’s washed up. I see you don’t pay attention to stats at all.sea hawks have a chance for Superbowl but San Fran I don’t think can win it. Qb is over rated.
