Dolphins add some secondary depth with Jalil Brown

Cassius Vaughn, Jalil Brown, Randy Bullock AP

Since the Dolphins were pulling guys in off the street to make game-saving plays last week, it figures they’d be on the lookout for secondary help.

The Dolphins have claimed cornerback Jalil Brown off waivers from the Colts, via the league’s transaction wire. They waived safety D.J. Campbell to make room on the roster for him.

The Dolphins are hanging in the playoff race thanks to some timely plays from just-signed Michael Thomas, and the entire starting secondary is dealing with some degree of injury.

That sent them toward Brown, a former fourth-round pick of the Chiefs, who the Colts picked up in October.

I’m not on the Fire Ireland bandwagon, but he really made a mistake cutting Richard Marshall before the season started. That depth would be nice right now.

I was bashing Ireland allot this season but man… he’s made some key moves and has looked masterful about it. Either that or Philbin can coach his bleep off.

Thank God they spent that #3 pick on Dion Jordan! That guy has single-handedly been holding up their defense – MVP and future HOFer!!

Richard Marshall has had a terrible year with the Chargers….he’s the CB that has been getting burnt every week in San Diego…catch the next Charger game and watch QBs have been picking on him all year. Glad he isn’t in Miami anymore.

“Give us your cuts, your waived, your recently demoted….”.

Richard Marshall never lived up to his contract ; he was injured for most of his stay in Miami and never played all that well when he was healthy. That’s why he was waived , and as far as I know , he hasn’t done anything of note since being picked up by San Diego , although I don’t know that for sure.

The bad news for the Dolphins is he isn’t really much depth. He looked outmatched in the preseason by 3 and 4th string talent. It’s a low risk proposition but don’t hold your breath thinking he’ll be the next Revis or Sherman
