Jim Harbaugh: Bruce Miller’s injury “doesn’t look good”

The 49ers have dealt with a lot of injuries in their wide receiving corps over the course of the season, leading them to look in different directions for help in the passing game.

One of those directions has been fullback Bruce Miller, who has caught 25 passes for 243 yards this season. Miller suffered an injury to his shoulder in Sunday’s victory over the Buccaneers and it may mean the 49ers will have to stop looking to a player who has also been a big help in the run game. Coach Jim Harbaugh wouldn’t say Monday whether the injury would end Miller’s season, but said that it “doesn’t look good.”

“Very significant [loss],” Harbaugh said, via Steve Corkran of the Bay Area News Group. “He does so many things in the protection, in the run game, receiving out of the back field. … It’s a loss.”

Harbaugh said that the 49ers intend to bring fullback Owen Marecic in for a physical and workout. Marecic played for Harbaugh at Stanford and spent a brief spell on the 49ers roster earlier this season.

Class guy, great football player and the ultimate team guy. Big Red will be missed big time. Boobie Dixon can and will step up though. Dixon has a lot more speed than Miller and is dying to start. Could be a possible upgrade.

Do you know what else “doesn’t look good”?

    Women in Seattle.

Let’s just call the Seahawks practice squad the Niners Practice Squad B-Team

explosion, the Hawks Practice squad might be the Niners “A” team. Oh wait, maybe not, since they completely manhandled the hawks by two points last week…

That’s too bad it wasn’t one of those injuries that look great.

Listen to Hawk fan pretend they’ve never tried to raid the 49ers roster. Totally adorable . . . and predictable.

Not a big name. Huge loss. Get well soon Bruce.

Interesting how a two point win vs. the Seahawks is mocked by this guy. In earlier months Seattle fans said their narrow wins versus the Rams, Bucs, Texans, and Titans were gritty and that getting the “w” is all that counts.

Tough loss for SF. However, Anthony Dixon can handle a lot of it, and Derek Carrier could handle some of the other personell looks that Dixon doesn’t fit.

What you might more likely see however is more 3 receiver sets from SF now having Crabtree/Boldin/MM or LMJ on the field at the same time. And that might not be the worst thing in the world.

Tough loss, he was filling in pretty nicely for D.Walker, next man up!

“The injury doesn’t look good. His arm is just kind of hanging loose, and it’s twisted around so the palm is facing outwards. Yuuk! I’ll probably have nightmares about it…”.

A real shame – one of those “minor” players who add such depth and do a load of dirty work.

Just as we were getting close to a full complement again.

It looked like a stinger at the time. If he’s actually injured his shoulder I just hope the Niners can find someone to step up. Tough ask, as they’ve been doing it for most of the season at one position or another.

    Hope Miller gets better soon.

2 points or 30 points results in the same ending. WIN, so who the f*** cares? A win is a win.

Didn’t the niners raid the Seahawks practice squad last week for a guy?

I’m surprised that Kaepernick completed 25 passes to any one. I guess he gets a tattoo for every completion. Classy.

If any of you think Anthony Dixon is half the blocker Bruce Miller is you are out of your mind. It is a huge loss for a power running team to lose their lead blocker at this point in the season.

  20. mubbcsoc says: Dec 16, 2013 7:08 PM

Boobie is about the best backup at that spot you could ask for and he’ll be playing with fire trying to remind people he’s a heck of a player. Hate to see big red not on the field, though.

For the 5th time in a row I might add, Haks can’t win in SF, not since 2008 and yet Seattle Fans claim they “own” us. How’s that for selective memory? Without your amplified crowd noise your team looks a little ordinary…
