Lions’ offense starts fast

In a big game for both teams, the Lions’ offense has made a big early statement against the Ravens’ defense.

Detroit received the opening kickoff and marched down the field on an eight-play, 78-yard drive that ended with Reggie Bush racing around the left end for a 14-yard touchdown run.

The drive was spurred by a 23-yard catch-and-run by running back Joique Bell to convert on a third down, and another third down became a first down only because the Ravens hit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford after he had already gone down on a feet-first slide.

Now the Ravens’ offense will have to answer, after the Lions’ offense struck first.
