Titans to sign quarterback Tyler Wilson

The Titans are reportedly adding some young depth at quarterback for the final weeks of the regular season.

According to Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean, the Titans will sign rookie quarterback Tyler Wilson from Oakland’s practice squad.

A fourth-round pick of the Raiders, Wilson was on the Raiders’ roster for Oakland’s Nov. 17 game at Houston and the Nov. 24 meeting with Tennessee. He did not play in either contest. Wilson has been on the Raiders’ practice squad for much of the season.

The Titans currently have three quarterbacks on their active roster: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Rusty Smith and John Skelton. Jake Locker, the Titans’ starter to begin the season, is on injured reserve with a foot injury.

By signing Wilson now, the Titans can get the former Arkansas star under contract just before the offseason begins. It’s possible Wilson could compete for a reserve role in 2014.

Remember when people were saying this goon was better than Matt Flynn because he didn’t vomit all over himself in OTAs?

It’ll be interesting to see what next year’s NEW coach thinks of this decision.

Why now? Titans passed up on Wilson at least 2-3 times on the waiver wire earlier this season.

If he couldnt beat out Matt Flynn, Terrel Pryor or Matt McGloin, he’s a bust. Dumb move by the Titans.

I like this signing…for futures contract for 2014

Tyler Wilson has some upside…there is a reason he was a 4th round pick…he played spectacular at times at Arkansas…where at one point he was thought to be a future 1st round pick when in college…

If he can learn the Titans playbook over the offseason it will be great..

Plus now he will be close to Arkansas his alma mater…he will feel more comfortable on this side of the country I bet..

Which QB is going to get cut now? Rusty or Skelton?

although tyler wilson didn’t get a fair chance in oakland, he was never ever good to be picked that early.

best case scenario for the titans would be to draft someone in this year’s QB heavy class.

worst case scenario would be to trade for kirk cousins or sign vick.

As I watch NFL ball in this day and age.

I can’t decide if it’s skripted like the WWE, or if 10 year olds playing Madden can make better play calls?

Just watched his highlight film on Youtube and I was sad because it was called a highlight film. In any case, I am hoping for his success from college football to continue!

The Raiders wrote off Matt Flynn and he looks alright with the pack, so the jury is still out on Wilson as well.

Great efficient use of your limited draft picks Reggie. Your 4th rounder will now be playing for another team, while your own QB situation is still unsettled.

The fade is the worst drafting team in NFL history.

    Reggie continues the pathetic tradition.

I told you he was the coffee boy in that front office scenario.
