Bengals replace injured punter with Shawn Powell

The Bengals found a replacement for their punter, who we all hope can stay intact the rest of the year.

The team announced they signed former Bills punter Shawn Powell today, after putting Kevin Huber on injured reserve with a fractured jaw and a cracked vertebrae.

Powell emerged from a tryout today. He opened the season with the Bills, but was cut in October after giving up 179 yards worth of returns and a touchdown against the Browns.

Powell will also be expected to hold for kicks, since they don’t want to expose quarterback Andy Dalton to that duty. He had to fill in as the holder Sunday night after Huber was injured in the first half.
