The Jaguars have proven the point that they didn’t throw in the towel after an 0-8 start by winning four of their next five.

Now it’s time to start stashing guys for next year.

The Jaguars placed wide receiver Cecil Shorts and guard Will Rackley on injured reserve, filling the spots with Browns practice squad center Patrick Lewis and promoting guard Drew Nowak from their own practice squad.

The Jaguars seemed resigned to the fact they weren’t going to get their leading receiver back this season, after he missed last week’s game against the Bills because of a groin injury which could require surgery. He finished with 66 catches for 777 yards after the Jaguars wised up and started targeting him more often.

Rackley missed two games earlier this year with a concussion, and was a late addition to the injury report last week after reporting concussion-like symptoms.
