The Green Bay Packers were well aware they needed help to put themselves in a better position to make the playoffs. Rarely will you find an NFL player that is willing to admit they read what’s written about them or watch the scoreboards on Sundays. However, most of them do. It’s tough to completely avoid and the Packers knew a loss from the Detroit Lions Monday night would greatly benefit they playoff aspirations.

Packers guard Josh Sitton had several teammates over to his house to watch Monday night’s game between the Lions and Baltimore Ravens. For a night at least, the Packers were massive Ravens fans. When Justin Tucker’s 61-yard field goal flew through the uprights to give the Ravens a 18-16 lead, the house party exploded in celebration.

“We were kind of jumping around like little school girls to be honest with you,” Sitton said in an interview with Alex Marvez and Solomon Wilcots on Sirius XM NFL Radio. “We were pretty damn excited.”

The loss by the Lions now gives the Packers (and Chicago Bears) control of their own destiny in the NFC North. If Green Bay wins out against Pittsburgh and Chicago, they will win the division.

It helped us obviously,” Sitton said. “We’ve got to go and do what we’ve got to do this weekend to make it even matter.”
