DeAndre Levy not fined for hitting Joe Flacco’s knee

After Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco took a shot to the knee from Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy in last week’s Baltimore win, coach Jim Harbaugh said he was sure the league would be taking a look at the unpenalized hit in the week to come.

If the NFL took a look, they found nothing wrong with Levy’s actions on the play. PFT has confirmed with the league that Levy has not been fined for the hit on Flacco, who suffered a sprained MCL but is expected to play against the Patriots this week.

It appeared that Levy’s voyage into Flacco’s knee may have been helped a bit by a push by Ravens guard A.Q. Shipley, although the push didn’t immediately cause the contact. The presence of any push would explain why he escaped a fine on the same day that Titans defensive end Kamerion Wimbley was fined $10,000 for his own low hit on Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer.

Levy missed his third straight practice on Friday because of a foot injury. He’ll be questionable, at best, for Sunday’s game against the Giants.
