Kwame Harris gets jail time for assault

Former 49ers offensive lineman Kwame Harris is going to jail for assault.  But not for very long.

Via KGO-TV, a California judge has sentenced Harris to five days behind bars and three years of probation on misdemeanor domestic violence, battery, and assault charges.  He also must complete 104 hours of domestic violence counseling.

Last month, a jury convicted Harris of the charges, acquitting him on more serious felony counts.

Harris became upset when his ex-boyfriend, Dmitri Geier, poured soy sauce on a plate of rice.  Things escalated, and Harris Harris allegedly tried to pull down Geier’s pants and accused Geier of stealing Harris’ underwear.

A first-round pick in 2003, Harris spent five years with the 49ers and one with the Raiders.  He acknowledged his sexual orientation in March 2013, and he expressed regret that he wasn’t able to come out during his playing career.

Not your average news bit from the NFL, that’s for sure…

I’m sure he can find things to do in jail to keep himself occupied. He may not want to leave.

You seriously can’t make this stuff up anymore.

So , if he had played tight end instead of offensive line , would he be a wide receiver today ?

Soy Sauce and stolen underwear? Sounds like a two hour ESPN ” Outside the Lines” special.

He must really hate soy sauce.

That’s why he sucked in the NFL

The details of this story certainly weren’t what I was expecting.

Soy sauce & rice go together like butter & popcorn, I don’t see what the problem was. Maybe it wasn’t Kikkoman.

  13. bigbens69taintedlove says: Dec 21, 2013 6:43 PM

It was all a tragic case of “who’s on first?”…Harris was trying to say he was gayer but Gaier just wasn’t picking up on it and things went downhill quickly

  14. lennydpocketqb says: Dec 21, 2013 6:46 PM

Well… Soy sauce contains a lot of sodium.

  15. thegreatgabbert says: Dec 21, 2013 6:49 PM

It’s frightening to think of really. Could have been any one of us in that situation. I mean I’ve poured soya sauce on rice myself. More than once and not that long ago. I had no idea.

“It escalated from there”. Boy, I’ll say! Too much soy sauce, being de-pantsed, briefs thefts!

This guy doesn’t need to play football, his life is more than interesting enough, off the field.

“Well congratulations Mr. Harris, only two more days left to serve. We had another football player sent to our institution so we thought the two of you could room together. A Mr. Richard Incognito, does that name ring a bell?”.

Soy sauce and borrowed underwear, huh?

I’m betting there might have been some other issues just below the surface.

Reminds me of Will Ferrell’s skit on SNL as a tense blue collar dad just waiting for an excuse to flip over his dinner plate and storm out of the room.

  19. beavertonsteve says: Dec 21, 2013 7:10 PM

He should have been yelling “Hell yeah I got yo underwear on!”

    While doing deep leg lunges.
