The Colts promoted center Thomas Austin from the practice squad on Saturday to give them more depth on the offensive line, something they’ll need after ruling out three linemen.
Left guard Hugh Thornton was questionable with a neck injury, but the team downgraded him to out before leaving for Kansas City on Saturday. It’s not particularly surprising as Thornton missed practice all week, but it will force the Colts to do some shuffling up front.
That shuffling will be complicated with guard Joe Reitz and tackle Jeff Linkenbach out as well. Both players were doubtful to play, so the Colts have likely prepared without them in mind for this week’s game. Mike McGlynn and Xavier Nixon will likely start at the guard spots for the Colts with the other options at the position banged up.
Safety Sergio Brown (groin), defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois (foot) and nose tackle Montori Hughes (knee) were also officially ruled out after also drawing doubtful designations on Friday.
