Ravens have gone six quarters without a touchdown

568ef5c209df02187a6d681905af7d49 AP

The Ravens were able to win last week without scoring a touchdown, but this week’s attempt isn’t going quite so well.

The Patriots lead 17-0 at halftime in Baltimore after 30 minutes when almost nothing went right for the home team. Joe Flacco was 5-of-10 when he had time to throw, he was sacked three times when he didn’t and didn’t look entirely comfortable at any point during the first two quarters. Whether that’s because of his sprained knee, the Patriots defense or both, it’s been a dismal offensive start for Baltimore.

Things weren’t much better in other phases of the game, either. The defense tightened up in the second quarter, but the Patriots were able to cash in with touchdowns on two of their red zone trips after struggling in that area against the Dolphins last weekend. On top of that there were seven penalties, an interception and an apparent fumble recovery wiped out when replay showed Danny Amendola was down before the ball was out.

Running back Shane Vereen, who scored in the first quarter is questionable to return for the Patriots because of a groin injury. LeGarrette Blount has run well for the Patriots and Brady is 8-of-13 for 114 yards and a touchdown.

It’s not the day the Ravens were looking for and it’s not the day they need to boost their playoff chances, which means it would be a pretty good day for them to rediscover the end zone.

No Anquan Boldin to get up there and grab those jump balls from Flacco….

  3. jakec4 says: Dec 22, 2013 6:14 PM

Ron Winter kept his crew out on the field at halftime to throw flags at the Ravens marching band.

  7. jakec4 says: Dec 22, 2013 6:19 PM

Boldin is gone and has been gone. Where is Torrey Smith, Marlon Brown, and Pitta? Torrey should have caught that long pass in the opening drive. He’s flat out disappeared the past month.

    But remember, Flaccos elite.

  10. tb12x3 says: Dec 22, 2013 6:24 PM

    brady is elite!!!!!!

  11. peytonwantsaflag says: Dec 22, 2013 6:27 PM

True, but up until a couple hours ago they were considered resourceful and a team that just wins by all the talking heads and the lack of touchdowns didn’t matter.

  12. medialovesthecowboys says: Dec 22, 2013 6:28 PM

    “Elite QB”

  13. annes22 says: Dec 22, 2013 6:30 PM

Who said Flacco is elite??Doesn’t look very elite right now, nice interception Joe.

  14. baltimorons says: Dec 22, 2013 6:38 PM

Yah it’s because they suck and uninbrow flacco is vying for the lowest qbr in the league.

  15. doctorrustbelt says: Dec 22, 2013 6:38 PM

    “ELITE” joe flacco

25th in the NFL in QB rating

30th in the NFL in yards per attempt

25th in the NFL in completion percentage

2nd MOST INTERCEPTIONS in the NFL

  16. bengalguy says: Dec 22, 2013 6:40 PM

………and 1 year without the playoffs!!!!

  17. Nofoolnodrool says: Dec 22, 2013 6:41 PM

Have to laugh at you raven losers whining about the refs. But what a class act for national tv to chant bull$hit about a call. Ah the cream is rising to the top but it’s spoiled….who would have guessed.

  18. detectivejimmymcnulty says: Dec 22, 2013 6:41 PM

Joe Flacco is and has been an average QB. He took an amazing playoff run and turned it into huge money, good for him. Only Rodgers, Brees, Peyton, and Brady deserve these monster contracts, but teams will continue to over pay for small sample sizes.

  19. johnnyb1976 says: Dec 22, 2013 6:44 PM

So much for that division title. WHO DEY!

Hey look!!! The Ravens actually scored a touchdown!!!

  22. taz101 says: Dec 22, 2013 6:54 PM

When your QB is Average Joe Flacco, you don’t need TDs. You rely on BS calls by the refs to get you into FG range. Then you let Tucker score all your points.

  23. shine94 says: Dec 22, 2013 7:04 PM

make that 7 quarters without a score

  24. 3mileisland says: Dec 22, 2013 7:04 PM

  25. ghostrider45 says: Dec 22, 2013 7:07 PM

  28. baltimoresnativeson says: Dec 22, 2013 7:16 PM

I keep telling everyone bad calls go both ways. Ravens getting a year’s share today. Maybe now everyone will shut up when something benefits the ravens.

  29. doctorrustbelt says: Dec 22, 2013 7:16 PM

Last Week…. 30th in the NFL in QB rating “ELITE” joe flacco wouldn’t have won on that last second 61 yard field goal if the referees call that OBVIOUS HOLD by the baltimore cornerback in the endzone.

  30. lanman11 says: Dec 22, 2013 7:20 PM

Gregory was playing the ball and the Ravens receiver climbed up his back. Very bad PI call. What defines PI these days? Without PI the Ravens are inneffective.

  31. ampatsisahypocrite says: Dec 22, 2013 7:20 PM

And the Ravens score their next TD 8 quarters later! Congrats to Jump Ball Joe for tossing the ball about 15 feet over the receiver’s head and getting that ridiculous PI flag! That’s how you roll, Jump Ball!

  32. scoobies05 says: Dec 22, 2013 7:35 PM

  33. keltictim says: Dec 22, 2013 7:36 PM

Flacco is gonna get someone hurt bad with those high throws

  34. lanman11 says: Dec 22, 2013 7:37 PM

Biggest game of the season and you get punked in your own crib. Not good. Patriots are ramming it down the Ravens throats now. How’s that taste? Here come the personal fouls and head shots Baltimore style. Blount finishes them off. Nice job.

  39. belicheckisgod says: Dec 22, 2013 7:43 PM

Flaccid Flacco is showing how limp his skills really are. Way overpaid. Defense won the Ravens a championship.

  45. jacflash says: Dec 22, 2013 7:53 PM

Can’t wait for the press conference on this one. Nobody does “sore loser” quite like the Ravens, and it’s so very much fun to watch.

  46. lanman11 says: Dec 22, 2013 7:54 PM

I’m pissed. It should be 41-0. Ravens should take a knee and surrender.

  47. doctorrustbelt says: Dec 22, 2013 7:55 PM

    Great leadership by Mediocre Joe.

  48. doctorrustbelt says: Dec 22, 2013 7:56 PM

Mediocre Joe doesn’t win big games UNLESS DEFENSE SAVES HIM.

  49. weepingjebus says: Dec 22, 2013 7:57 PM

Where would Jump Ball Joe be without Pass Interference penalties? 41-0, that’s where. Oh, and brilliant challenge there at the end, lol. Claiming your own player screwed up so you get better field position, how could that go wrong?

  50. oriolesvsravens says: Dec 22, 2013 7:59 PM

The offense has been bad all year. With the changes made in the off season, the lack of production from WRs, poor o-line play, inconsistent at the QB position, Castillo, there has to be drastic changes in the off season. The defense and the kicker are asked to do too much. Next year would need to be Ozzie’s best because that gaudy ring inflated someone’s ego for them to think that something was broke that needed to be fixed. Oh they can still make the playoffs.

  51. weepingjebus says: Dec 22, 2013 8:00 PM

    Oh, and:

Joe Flacco 2013 salary: 20.1 million
Tom Brady 2013 salary: 1 million

  52. pftaddict says: Dec 22, 2013 8:12 PM

The lack of production is Cam Cameron’s fault.

  53. myspaceyourface says: Dec 22, 2013 8:54 PM

The Ravens were given at least 2 games by the officials this season and quiet possibly the SB last year. I don’t want to hear anything about the officials from Baltimore fans.

  54. blackngold4life says: Dec 22, 2013 9:00 PM

Guess that Hail Mary / Pass interference play they run didn’t work today..Jacoby Jones can only save them so many times on special teams. Rice looks like trash this year and Flacco has 18 TDs 19 INTs..But

  55. wolfmanpatriot says: Dec 22, 2013 10:03 PM

During the ravens PAT, Brady was signalling to flacko.
He said, “Nice high ball for a garbage time score. Now we will show you how it is done properly.
Tom continued, saying, “Watch closely, we are going to do this only 3 times”.

  56. 2001asterisk2003asterisk2004asterisk says: Dec 22, 2013 11:22 PM

A lot of penalties went against the ravens today. Weird.

  57. ripster65 says: Dec 22, 2013 11:24 PM

Wow! Imagine how many it would be if they hadn’t given Flaco his $$$!

  58. steelcurtainn says: Dec 22, 2013 11:31 PM

The Ravens might not score another td this year. Flacco is laughing on his way to the bank at the ravens front office. Mediocrity for years for Baltimore.
