Report: Broncos fear Von Miller has a torn ACL

Von Miller AP

The Broncos clinched the AFC West title Sunday, but they may have lost something even more important.

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, the Broncos fear outside linebacker Von Miller suffered an ACL injury in Sunday’s win over the Texans, though they haven’t given up hope it’s less severe.

Miller will have an MRI Monday to determine the full extent of the injury. He walked off the field under his own power, but that’s not always the most accurate indicator.

“There’s always some concern when your teammate goes down, especially a guy like Von, who’s really starting to click now,” Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey. “It’s unfortunate, but hopefully it’s something minor and something he can come back from real quick.”

Miller started the year with a six-game suspension, and an unscheduled end would severely dampen the Broncos’ Super Bowl chances.

Man…talk about ‘not your year’. Gotta hurt to have all of that come when it appears to be ‘your year’ for everyone else on the team.

We hope he has a failed surgery.

I’m a Broncos fan, and feel bad for Von Miller. But PED use leaves a body with risky mileage akin to engines with turbos; they make the engine go faster but stress it more so it blows sooner.

Hope that’s not the case, but it does make one wonder if Miller truly pays for that year-ago mistake now.

I’m sure this has nothing to do with a failed drug test earlier this year…

I’ll never understand why they let these guys walk around when you suspect a torn up knee

Nikoe Whitley is a safety for Mississippi State who played with a torn ACL for about 8 weeks. It’s not unheard of.

Classy response there ‘Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I don’t wish blown out knees or any injury on anyone, even to Steelers players.

I know it’s not unheard of. That’s the point. It is absolute foolishness. Do you know how much more damage you’ll cause stressing a torn up knee?

As for that safety you referred to, not only will his injured knee be hard to fix, but he will actually damage the other knee by favoring it much more, putting more stress on it. That’s how Terrell Davis ended his career. He tore up one knee, but then when he came back rehabbed, he favored the uninjured knee more, injured it, and did unrepairable harm.

You guys do realize it wasn’t PEDs he was suspended for right?

Broncos D takes another huge hit. As if it wasn’t bad enough already.

    We’re screwed…

It’s ok Denver fans, Peyton got his TD record back… the only thing he really cares about. Maybe they’ll hang a banner in the rafters to commemorate the new record :)

I think that Miller’s injury is just a sprain, not a tear.

  25. lflib69 says: Dec 23, 2013 4:33 AM

Awww…too bad. Manning can break all the records he wants but come February without a good/moderately good Defense they aren’t going anywhere. Not only that…Manning has yet to prove himself in the cold LMAO

I hope it isn’t serious. He is a great player.

  27. routerunner says: Dec 23, 2013 10:39 AM

Oh well, it’s only PEDs. Not as bad as those salary cap violations Denver had back in the late 90s when they won their SBs.
