Romo says he has a back injury

Romo AP

The tie has been broken.  We think.

Via Ed Werder of ESPN, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo emerged from Sunday’s win over the Redskins with a back injury.  Coach Jason Garrett said it’s a foot injury.

So what do you have to say about it, Tony?

“It was my back,” Romo told reporters after the game regarding an injury that caused him to not miss any time. “I tweaked it in the game and then for whatever reason then, the twist or whatever it was, definitely just made it not feel comfortable.”

The team also has advised PFT that Romo’s back tightened up during the game.  Romo also was asked whether the back was bothering him coming in to the game, given that Jones suggested Romo had a pre-existing back problem.

“A little bit but nothing where I thought it was gonna be a major thing,” Romo said. “[I] think I took a hit which kind of triggered it. And then one time whatever the kid did on that one play, really sent a . . . just didn’t make it feel very comfortable. But it’s a completely in a different spot than the back stuff I had last year so that’s a good thing.”

Curiously, Romo wasn’t listed on the injury report as having a back injury. Next week, he likely will be.

His back was hurt from carrying that defense.

A back injury…. From carrying the Cowboys every game.

Broken back, punctured ling, snapped ribs. He just plays and wins the pain don’t matter. Good lesson for Aaron Rodgers.

Tony, when you’re carrying a defence you have to have proper posture

  5. bennyb82 says: Dec 22, 2013 7:12 PM

His back must be located on his leg.

  6. moerawn says: Dec 22, 2013 7:13 PM

It’s a weak back. When did he get it? About a week back. (old Stooges line)

  7. ripster65 says: Dec 22, 2013 7:18 PM

Of course he does, I mean, that’s what the guy who signs his big fatchecks says isn’t it? Guess I wouldn’t argue with him either. (sheesh….these guys)

    From Garrett stabbing him there.

So as soon as he gets hurt he pulls down his sock. And he was clearly limping at times. But it was his back that got hurt. Riiiiiiiight.

It was a trick to try to play the Skins into the blitz thinking he was hurt…

Granted he might have strained his calf or had a charlie horse, he was clearly able to scramble after that on the later downs…

    Enjoy your holidays Redskins

Maybe Tony needs to give up golf. About the worst thing for your back.

Only hope to beat the Beagles is Kyle Orton.

  14. cantonbound13 says: Dec 22, 2013 8:43 PM

He’ll be fine for Next Sunday’s usual late season collapse in a big game.

  15. jimsnchz says: Dec 22, 2013 8:44 PM

Perhaps its only a spine starting to develop? Or its the prelude to next weeks excuse. Was it the last win & in VS Philly at home where the final was like 44-10?

  16. mikebarnesnarizona says: Dec 22, 2013 8:56 PM

Screw Romo. Bigger issue is how in the hell do the Seahawks lose to the Cardinals?? Damn you Seahawks.

  17. moerawn says: Dec 22, 2013 9:01 PM

Because they might “back” into the playoffs.

  18. skolvikes45 says: Dec 22, 2013 9:38 PM

His back is hurt from Jerry Jones not giving him the ole weekly back massage in the hot tub. You see they were quarreling over the collapse to the Packers, so no hut tub time. His back will be better next week. Mark my words. Coincidence? Me thinks not, they won this week, so hot tub time is back on.

  19. pftaddict says: Dec 22, 2013 9:45 PM

His back hurting is a back up plan just in case the Cowboys lose next week. It won’t be because he choked again, it will be because his back hurt.

Just working up his excuse for next weeks loss to the Eagles after giving up a lead again.

I don’t believe anything Ed Werder teports.

One play away from a house clean sounds stable.

  23. granadafan says: Dec 22, 2013 10:47 PM

Anyone who has had back pain or injuries knows how painful this is and how hard it is to perform basic tasks, let alone run around and throw.

  24. tmb333 says: Dec 22, 2013 10:58 PM

Everyone should lay money on Dallas. The nfl wants them in the playoffs so badly they will fix the outcome. We will see which crew follows orders well. They will be the care working in Dallas next week.

  25. bkg63 says: Dec 22, 2013 11:16 PM

Romo’s gonna need a body cast after the Eagles finish them of next week.

    E.A.G.L.E.S….Eagles!

Please Eli beat the skins. I want to call robert rg3-13 for the rest of his carrer, please eli please!!!!!!!!!! :):):):):)

  27. aholland00 says: Dec 23, 2013 12:35 AM

yeahhhh right….long history of romo “injuries” . If he was really injured he wouldn’t be able to run or throw with a bad back. (remember when he had “broken ribs and a punctured lung”…he wouldn’t even be able to walk on the field , let alone play QB) He learned that from E Smith who used to limp off the field in “pain” and then be back on the field for the next play.

  28. sportsguy3434 says: Dec 23, 2013 1:04 AM

His sock was pulled down on the play and he was limping to hand the ball off on the next play. Back problem?

    Garret is probably right.

  29. kingpel says: Dec 23, 2013 4:36 AM

Ed Werder knows more about the Cowboys than Jason Garrett. This guy is an absolute CLOWN. Fire him, Jerry.

  30. gpete1962 says: Dec 23, 2013 5:33 AM

    Ride that Romo-coaster, Baby!!

He just found his excuse for loosing next week!!

  31. harveyredman says: Dec 23, 2013 9:12 AM

But wait, wasn’t Kirk Cousins supposed to destroy Romo, and the historically inept Dallas Defense with his super powers and ability that makes RGIII look like a Rasta with bad braids who needs braces???

Or maybe Kirk Cousins is who they thought he was, a noodle armed, 4th round draft choice from the crappy Big10 who could barely pass for 200 yards at home against the worst pass defense to ever step on an NFL field. And RGIII is a former Heisman winner, 2nd overall pick, Offensive Rookie of the year who set a rookie record for passer rating and rushing yards who is coming off catastrophic knee surgery who sucked this year but will bounce back.

  32. jbeagles23 says: Dec 23, 2013 9:23 AM

Already making excuses for losing a third straight season finale with a chance for the playoffs on the line
