Bills give Alan Branch a contract extension

Teams which aren’t in the playoff chase can spend the rest of the season making plans for the future.

The Bills fall into that category, and have gotten to work.

The team announced they had signed defensive tackle Alan Branch to a contract extension. Terms weren’t announced, but he was set to become an unrestricted free agent, after signing a one-year deal with the Bills last offseason.

Branch had become a valuable piece for a solid defense, and now he gets to hang around for another year.

What does this say about the future of Alex Carrington?

Always thought the Cards used him poorly out of college, as a classic 3-4 NT. The few times he played as a 3-4/4-3 DE back then he was very impressive, then played well in SEA. Glad to see a good guy keep his career going.

Awesome move. We really used his strengths well. I think its a good move for him too. He didnt put up great numbers, so his worth was probably not what he wanted to be, but to tie up blockers to let other guys make plays, no one is better. Its hard to find unselfish guys in this day and age. As for Carrington, I still think he can get resigned. Great move either way. Gives us more leverage. GO Bills!

Good, keep building the team inside out. Regarding Carrington this was supposed to be the year he needed to take the next step, unfortunately his season was shortened by injury. He has zero leverage going into FA, though.

One of the greatest Wolverines ever. That guy was an absolute animal at Michigan.
