Earl Wolff reinjured his knee in Eagles win

The Eagles went into last Sunday’s game against the Bears down two safeties because of injury, but they felt a bit better about the situation because Earl Wolff was returning to the lineup after missing four games with a knee injury.

Those good feelings didn’t last two long, however. Wolff, who was alternating with Patrick Chung, reinjured the knee during the second quarter of the game and did not return. Coach Chip Kelly didn’t have much to say about Wolff’s outlook for the Sunday night date with the Cowboys, but did say that the lopsided score against the Bears was part of the reason that Wolff didn’t return to the game.

“We were ahead, and then obviously he’s been out for a while, so we were just going to try work him back in the lineup,” Kelly said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer. “And then we got a lead and we didn’t feel like we needed to put him back out there. We’ll see how he goes this week.”

Colt Anderson and Kurt Coleman were the two injured safeties last week and there’s no word yet on their status for the game against the Cowboys. Whether Tony Romo or Kyle Orton is the quarterback for Dallas, there should be plays to make against the Eagles secondary.

How did that work for the 2nd highest scoring team in the NFC on Sunday? …11 pts.

Safety has to be the top priority for the Eagles in the offseason.

We need Wolfe back because he is at least a competent safety. Chung is too busy tackling his own teamates.

They could always suit up Brian Dawkins. He looks like he’s kept in pretty good shape.
