Nate Washington follows up on pay cut, isn’t ruling anything out

On Monday, we had a post about Titans wide receiver Nate Washington saying he was unwilling to take a pay cut from his $4.8 million salary if that’s what it took to remain with the Titans in 2014.

Washington’s quotes came to us via Paul Kuharsky of and Washington spoke to Kuharsky again on Tuesday about the issue. Washington feels there was a miscommunication because he said there were no hard feelings and that it was time to move on in response to the possibility he loses his spot because of the rest of the receiving corps.

Kuharsky thought Washington was referring to his salary and wrote on Tuesday that he apologizes “to Washington for failing to be sufficiently clear” and to his readers for failing to accurately convey the meaning of Washington’s remark.

It’s hard to know what direction the Titans will take this offseason until they’ve settled Mike Munchak’s coaching future, but there should be a place for Washington in Tennessee. Kenny Britt will almost certainly be moving on once the season comes to an end and there would still be use for a veteran complement to Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter.

Seems to me like they handled themselves some business.

My bet is on Nate Washingtons career trending closer to that of donald driver than the typical path for someone like him.
