Texans grab two running backs from practice squads

The Houston Texans finally elected to place Ben Tate on injured reserve last week after playing through several broken ribs for most of the season.

The Texans lost another running back to injured reserve Tuesday as the team placed Deji Karim on injured reserve due to a collarbone injury that has affected him throughout the year.

The hit to the running back position led the Texans to seek additional help at the position. Houston raided the practice squads of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs to add Ray Graham and Toben Opurum to the active roster.

They replace Karim and cornerback Jonathan Joseph, who was also placed on injured reserve, on the team’s 53-man roster.

Graham had been with Houston throughout the offseason and preseason after signing as an undrafted free agent. After his released from Houston, he was signed to the Steelers practice squad. Graham played in college at the University of Pittsburgh.

Opurum is a fullback that signed with the Chiefs after going undrafted out of the University of Kansas.

How bad is it when you’re the second best team in a State that also is home to the Dallas Cowboys ?

Clearly Toben Opurum deserves a shot to start based purely on name awesomeness alone.
