The Chiefs are going to “mix and match” starters and reserves in their season finale against the Chargers and it sounds like left tackle Branden Albert wants to be one of the starters in the mix.

Albert said Thursday that he plans to play on Sunday after missing the last three games with a knee injury. Albert said he’s been practicing for the last couple of weeks and wants to “knock the rust off” after spending the last stretch of time on the bench.

“That’s the plan,” Albert said, via the Kansas City Star. “I plan on getting in there. We’ll see how things go toward the end of the week. I’m feeling good, I’m ready to help this team win. That’s all that matters. I’m preparing like I’m playing.”

With free agency looming after this season, Albert could be playing his final games with the Chiefs. He has turned in another strong season, especially as a pass blocker, which should make for no shortage of suitors if he hits the open market.
