Cardinals think their defense can get even better

The Cardinals defense just put on one of the dominant performances of the year, shutting down the Seahawks in every way imaginable.

But to hear them tell it, it can get even better.

“It’s up there,” linebacker Karlos Dansby said of the ceiling for the defense, via Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. “It’s up there. We still got a lot of growing to do. We still left a lot of plays out on the field. We gave them a little too much than we wanted to give them, but they’re a great offense. You can only shut them down for so long.”

They held the Seahawks under 200 yards, and made plays at key times, including a goal-line stand which led to a missed field goal, and have quietly become one of the league’s best. They’re ranked sixth overall, but best in the league against the run.

“I don’t think too many teams want to see us in the playoffs, especially the way our defense is playing right now,” coach Bruce Arians said. “To have a road win like that, it’s a playoff atmosphere because they were playing for everything, I would feel very confident going anywhere in the National Football League playing anybody.”

While most of their key players on defense are under contract, Dansby’s the exception, after coming over on a one-year deal and performing at a level that could earn him more security.

But before they worry about next year, they have a few more days together, at least. The Cardinals need help if they want to play more than one more game, as they need a Saints loss to the Buccaneers to have a chance at the postseason.

And yet, all Nick Foles did was throw 21/31, 237 yards, 3TDs and no INTs against them. But hey, he’s not good, you guys! He hasn’t played any real defenses yet!

The Cardinals are the most underrated team in the NFL right now.

Foles threw his 1st pick against AZ and was saved by a BS hold on the honey badger. Eagles will be one and done in the playoffs.

Bruce Arians is an arrogant jerk. He may be right but he will get a slice of humble pie when the 49ers come in and whoop on them!!!

    “bleedgreen says:

Cardinals have showed OVER THE COURSE OF YEARS now that they have a good defense and it took a step up this year.

Any team can have a few games that don’t stand up. Just look at what Ryan Fitzpatrick did to them.

What they’re talking about in this report, Bleedgreen, is how good the Cardinals Defense is, especially when they are not having interceptions given back to the QB, and bull…. calls to keep giving them second and third chances after the D done shut them down. So when a team is given help, then well, the D is average as you might say. But good luck, to you in the playoffs, and the main thing you need to thank, is the week division your in.
