Giants place Cooper Taylor on injured reserve

The Giants have had a hard time keeping players healthy this season and Christmas brought another roster move to end the year of an ailing player.

Safety Cooper Taylor has been placed on injured reserve after missing the last two weeks with a hamstring injury. Because this is the 2013 Giants, Taylor also had a shoulder injury that kept him out of three games earlier in the season.

Taylor was a fifth-round pick in April and had his on-field highlight against the Raiders when he recovered a blocked punt and returned it for a touchdown. He has four tackles in 10 games spent mainly on special teams work.

The Giants promoted guard Eric Herman, a seventh-round pick this year, from the practice squad. Herman could be necessary depth for Week 17 as David Diehl and Brandon Mosley are both dealing with injuries that could force the Giants into shuffling the deck once more on an offensive line that has needed name tags at various points this season.
