Maurice Jones-Drew: I feel like I have a lot left

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has a nagging hamstring injury, but he’s expected to play when the Jaguars travel to Indianapolis on Sunday.

Once that’s out of the way, it will start to be time for Jones-Drew and the Jaguars to figure out if there’s a future to their working relationship. Free agency beckons this offseason, but Jones-Drew says he won’t be micromanaging negotiations. He said he tried to involve himself in contract talks when he held out in 2012, but those experiences have moved him to focus on “getting back to where I play at a high level.”

“I know what I have left, and I feel like it’s a lot,” Jones-Drew said, via the Florida Times Union. “I’ll just go home, relax and hopefully things will work out for the best.”

Jones-Drew has carried the ball 221 times for 769 yards and five touchdowns and added 38 catches for 263 yards this season, a sharp downturn from his production before his 2012 foot injury. That production is down sharply from where he was before his 2012 foot injury and likely puts him on track to move into a time share in the backfield rather than a feature back role going forward.

He does have a lot left, he’ll probably live 50 more years.

He’s the type of guy who may price himself out of the market if he’s not careful.

I could see him winning a super bowl with NYG.

I would LOVE to see him accept a deal with a low cap hit and go to Indianapolis where he can be in a RB by committee with Richardson and Ballard.

He’s still a very good rb in a very poor offense. I’d love to see him in denver with a Moreno mjd punch in the mouth and throw ball In there occasionally

I would also like to see him in Denver, but it’s not happening with our cap situation unless we pass on our team option for Knowshon. MJD really would be an ideal fit in the Manning offense, though– dude is a solid receiver and a ferocious pass blocker. No way to know for sure if he has any gas left in the tank, but if he does he could have a couple of nice bounce-back years running against seven man fronts for a change.
